Thank you very much for your prompt reply.
I have already quadruple checked this as I want to go live with my new build.
I know what noindex means (and how to check if it appears in the robots meta in the source code).
So that we are clear, I will restate the situtation:
It is a woo site so the categories are Product categories.
I have 3 parent categories with each one named after a targeted key SEO word.
The parent categories are linked to from my homepage and from my main menu.
Each each of the 3 parent categories has 8 or more child categories (and the child categories are full of products).
The parent categories contain no products and are for SEO and organizing the child categories.
On the edit page for each of the PARENT CATEGORIES I have ticked INDEX, FOLLOW and ARCHIVE.
On the edit page for each child category I have ticked NOINDEX, FOLLOW, and NOARCHIVE.
On the edit page for each product I have ticked INDEX, FOLLOW and ARCHIVE.
When I view the Category Overview page the “I” part of the TSF SEO bar for each PARENT CATEGORY is blue (not green as one would expect) and if I scroll over it I get the pop up tool tip that reads:
Index: Category is being indexed. But there are no posts in this term; therefore, indexing has been discouraged.
The SEO outcome I am after is that Google indexes my Home page, each of my 3 Parent categories and each of the products in the child categories (but not the child categories themselves).
I have not used tags at all.
At this late stage of my site development I am (horrified) to discover that the Parent Categories are not being indexed (even though they are ticked INDEX). I have built complex custom navigation and headers based on the Parent and Child categories. If I have to do away with the Child categories and use tags I will have to reassign several hundred products and redo my nav and headers. So as you can appreciate, this is a very important issue for me.
What do I have to do to ensure Google indexes?:
Homepage
Parent Categories (3x)
All products
But NOT Child categoriesOr am I faced with the horror of replacing my child categories with (no indexed) tags and reassigning all products back to the three parent categories?
Kind Regards
Max

Just another thought (my apologies for bouncing theme off you)…
To avoid creating boilerplate titles one thing that is different (and changing regulary) for each of my categories is their product count. I am adding new products each week.
So I could have something like:
167+ New Items of Riding Gear
Is there a filter or any way that I could add a specific woo category product count to a TSF Category SEO title by way of a shortcode?
That is, so that the “167” in the above title would change everytime I add a new product to a category.
I am also planning on using bullet points as separators rather than pipes or dashes.
Is there any problem with this?

How often would google update product category titles? Is there any problem having MONTH YEAR in that Google might be slow to update the title and then having old MONTH in my title is a negative not a plus?
I only have three key product categories (with lots of no indexed no archived) subcats.
It is a catalog so I was hoping to have category headings something like:
New Riding Gear – 2018 July Catalog – MyWebsite

Is this correct:
// Register [title-year] shortcode. add_shortcode( 'title-year', function() { return esc_html( date( 'F Y' ) ); } );

Thanks Sybre
You always provide great support.
How do I modify the this portion of the snippet so that it returns MONTH and YEAR (e.g JULY 2018):
// Register [title-year] shortcode. add_shortcode( 'title-year', function() { return esc_html( date( 'Y' ) ); } );

Hey Sybre
Thanks for your prompt reply.
Manually updating a date in a title has a good deal of risk. If I forget (or cannot) update a manually entered date the outcome is bad. For example if my title contains 2018 it will drop down in the rankings once we hit 2019.
What about including “Updated Daily” in the title instead.
Is the Penguin risk significant?

Thanks for your prompt reply.
I tested extensively on my twitter account and on the twitter card validator page.
If I tweet a link to one of my product categories the TSF Social Media “fallback image” I have set is displayed.
However, if I tweet a link to one of my product tags the fallback image is not displayed. Twitter inserts their “no image” icon.
I have cleared all caching and double checked with both the validator and live test tweets.
Tweet category link: image = TSF fallback image
Tweet tag link: no TSF fallback image just no image icon inserted by twitterI am trying to cobble together a solution use brands on my Woo site without using a plugin (to avoid bloat and the risk of a plugin being unsupported moving forward).
I first experimented using a brand product category. But that is very clunky for SEO.
I have currently renamed my site product tags taxonomy to Brands using using a translate function and that seems to work ok (I do not otherwise use tags with my products).
This morning I am tinkering with the plugin code to add a new custom taxonomy to woo (which I will call Brands) (if that works then I will still have my product tags taxonomy free if I need them down the track).
I look forward to v3.2. And (my dream) would be that that version enables you to set a custom Social Media Image for the product category taxonomy, the product tag taxonomy, and for any custom taxonomy I register with Woo.
In the interim, is my observation that TSF does not add the fallback custom social media image to product tag links correct?
Thanks again for your great plugin and the fantastic support that you provide.
Kind Regards
Max
I will make these additional comments:
1. It is not a JS or other problem in my backend. Your UI shows the categories option but it is locked out with the following written next to the Categories heading:
(PREMIUM OPTION)
2. Well coded plugins include a check box to “Delete all Plugin Data”. I chose not to use your plugin. Why should I be left with its orphaned tables and data.
3. I was sent an abusive followup email as follows:
Man what are you talking about!!! It is only problem with your head!
4. The Developers of this plugin have English as their second language.

In reply to: [Random Banner] Selecting if a category opens in a new tab.I would be very much appreciated. And as you can understand it makes the functionality of your plugin a lot more powerful.
When are you planning to release your next update.

I have uploaded a new image as per your instructions and it now works fine on twitter. I check the card validator page. However I use skype alot and I noticed today that the image used when I post the url for my site on skype is still the distorted small logo.
Do you know where skype pulls the image from. And how can I ensure it pulls the new social image I have uploaded and set in TSF.
Kind Regards

In reply to: [The SEO Framework – Fast, Automated, Effortless.] Site logo problemsWhat amazing customer service you guys provide.
Yes…I was an early adopter of the SEO framework and I already provided my 5 stars. Back then I wrote the following. And now a year and a half down the track my opinion has not changed one bit:
————————-
No bloat and nags.Simple and intuitive interface.
All required functionality.
Swift, polite and meaningful replies from Sybre.
Free.
Don’t bother sifting through all the others, The SEO Framework is the best
————————-I am frankly amazed why you guys do not have 1 million + active installs.
It is sad to think that people can not see through the BS and hype surrounding other SEO solutions and switch your plugin, a simple, robust and quality product with first class support.
Anyway Lebaux. Thanks for the video. The social platform I am having problems with is twitter. Does twitter also have a debugging/scraping web page like the FB one you visited in your video?
Kind Regards

Thanks for your prompt reply.
At present if have this:
<?php if ( is_page( [233,24,1068,1082] ) ) : ?>
How can I include your code:
is_post_type_archive('lp_course')
into the above string?
Thanks for your assistance.
(please note that in my first post my string code had an extra comma after 1082. That error has now been fixed).
Kind Regards
Max
