I was adding a <style="text-align: center"> to the cli-bar-message class, but it seems the parent cli-bar-container cli-style-v2 class doesn’t span the full width of the viewport, so the text isn’t centered. There’s a similar issue for me with the cli-bar-btn_container div, which I can’t get to center the buttons.

I can send you a mockup of how I’d like the text/buttons to display, if that will make things clearer.

Hi Tobias, thanks so much for coming back to me so quickly.

I added the code you proposed and it all looks good except for one rogue entry dated 2015 that’s appearing before entries dated more recently. I’ve checked the cell concerned to see if there’s anything else in there, but it all looks fine.

Anything else I can try? Would it help if I sent you the page URL?

Just in case anyone’s unsure: there’s nothing to stop the creation of longer meta description tags right now. You’ll get the warning and the red text appear in the Yoast UI, but the tag content will appear as written in the page’s HTML output.

Since I hadn’t heard back and couldn’t wait any longer I’m using another plugin that works with my theme, has comprehensive documentation, and where the plugin developer replies within a couple of days.

You’re right – PICNIC and all that. I was using the CloudFlare plugin which has an option called “https protocol rewriting” activated by default. It seems to work by forcibly stripping-out every http prefix it finds. Turning that off and all was well. Just mentioning it here in case anyone else finds it helpful.
