    Hi,

    Many thanks for your reply. An interesting reply to say WordPress might not add this facility as several professional companies I’ve spoken to are specifically targeting their efforts on TOTP hardware devices that work with Microsoft 365 etc as software can be subject to hacking. Whereas a hardware device cannot be copied without the serial number and seed.

    A lot of companies employees (I look after) don’t want to use their own personal devices for Software 2FA, so I had to look for an alternative.

    I’ve manage to contacted Token2 and they say their plugin even though not updated for several years is still working. so I will use this plugin going forwards, though a professional myself I would rather use something that will work straight out of the box (per say) rather than writing my own program to work with industry standard hardware TOTP hardware devices

    Hopefully someone on the forum will find this useful when trying to use a TOTP hardware device on WordPress websites.

    Just as a side note “Two Factor” plugin will not currently work if you use the Solid Security Plugin (It throws an error), Ive’ also contacted Solid Security to see if they will add this functionality.

    I don’t pertain to be a 2FA or TOTP expert but I am a IT Professional, in my industry every day is a learning experience.

    Thanks again for your reply.

    Hi,

    I’ve been doing a bit of poking around the website, and I decided to completely move the plugins out of the plugin folder into a temporary holding folder. Once I moved them all out I then manually moved them back one by one until download manager stopped working.

    Well I moved all the plugins out except download manager and it started working yay. I then moved them all back one by one and it’s still working. So I’m not really sure what caused the problem. But all is well again. Thanks for your help @humayonk

    Just incase anyone else gets this issue you could try the above process. It worked for me!

    Thanks bcworkz for your kind reply.

    Yes the other sites are located on the same server and work perfectly.

    I take onboard your comments but i don’t really want to take apart a working site just for the ability for people to search when everything else on the site works perfectly. So I’ve take the view to remove the search facility for now.

    Once again thank your for your time and kind help.

    Ok,

    i’ve done some further investigations, its not the Apache Installation but thanks for your advice.

    I have other websites on this server and they don’t use the search function but I tested it on the other site with positive results. They work.

    So its defiantly something to do this particular site. the code in the url bar is https://www.website.co.uk/?s=%C2%A3

    Further information about plugins and themes used are as follows;

    Plugins:-

    disable comments -> 1.5.2
    lockdown wp admin -> 2.3.2
    order your posts manually ->
    simple 301 redirects -> 1.07
    wordfence security -> 6.2.3
    wp maintenance mode 2.08
    wp mail smtp -> 0.9.5

    Theme:-
    ———

    Wordpress – > 4.6.1

    Sorry all I should have posted all this information in the first place.

    I have deactivated all the plugins and I still have the same problem, so its not the plugins!

    Any other advice?

    Thanks

    Kev

    Hi Again,

    Thanks Media X, only problem is that the security is based on WordPress user roles. I want a program that uses its own.

    For example Capa is a program that allows you to select what users can see what pages on the website, something similar would be great if its out there.

    Thanks

    Kevin

    Hi,

    Thanks for your kind reply, i have been looking at several plugins but none seem to have a separate user restriction policy, they all relies on word press user profiles. (subscriber, editor, etc)

    Do you know of one, or one you have experience with that will do what i need.

    Thanks

    Kevin
