In reply to: Un-publish postsThat’s not quite the right answer. WordPress stores documents as “published” or “pending review” or “unpublished.” Changing a document to “unpublished” lets you store the page while it’s not available. Tip: DO NOT click the check box for private, as private changes the page status to “published” and those pages can appear on your site in places you wouldn’t expect: like when someone looks at a list of the posts in one of your blog’s categories.
Yes, this does seem inconsistent with the labeling in the WP menus, but the inconsistency is actually in the theme, not WordPress.

In reply to: Flash and WordPress helpIt might help to get the flash platform out of your way. There is a piece of widely used software that queries either an SQL database or XML files called the JM Image Rotator. It’s built to show images, but could be modified to pull text strings from your database.
Here’s the flash thing
It’s the basis for a very popular WordPress Plugin, the NextGen Gallery
You would need to buy some programmer time… or hack into yourself.

In reply to: Importing indexed .png files blows filesize upSounds more like a problem for the gimp forum?
I think you are actually stating your problem in the first line where you describe your graphics file prep: “optimum pallette”. There have to be design compromises with the ease of use. When you use the WP’s ‘upload’ there is code to resize the pictures according to rules for the data in the files. There are about 8 gazillion variations of graphics files.
Also, “thumbnail size wordpress” might be a helpful search for you.

Just curious… why not ask jonimueller, who has answered questions for you in this forum?
And how come you don’t link your site? Every link is a good thing.

In reply to: Why does my animated .gif image look awful?Hi Shelley
You need to create that GIF in EXACTLY the size that you want it displayed. The automatic resizing can squeeze the life out of images.
