Well, I have egg on my face… It’s no longer happening.

If I see it again, I’ll let you know!

I’m using the current Version 1.8.15

    Hi Adam,

Well, I’ve had it happen just once more on a different client’s site.

However, I have Site Kit installed on over a dozen sites (and on a number of different hosts) and universally the Site Kit Dashboard is universally extremely slow to load… As much as two or three minutes and multiple “retrys” on the different dashboard sections.

I’m still trying to figure out why… I’m thinking Site Kit may be running afoul of the security on the sites. Things seem to improve if I whitelist the IP Site Kit is using to contact Google. (I know it’s not a static IP address-Was just testing)

I use the Shield (Pro) Security plugin and also the 8G Firewall from Perishible Press, if that helps.

Here you go… I am working on my client’s existing site. It’s been around for some time and has some 12k of images.
I’m installing a new theme which of course has differently sized images than the old theme.
I don’t want to “just” optimize the existing images. I need to both regenerate (to create the new thumbnails) and optimize the existing images.
I will probably have to do it as a two-stage process… Regenerate all of the images (with oprimization turned off) and then as a second process do a scheduled optimization of all of the images. Doable, but a pain.
If I tried to regenerate and optimize all 12k of images in one fell swoop , I’d expect to run into “out of memory” errors.

My thought was if a scheduled optimization could trigger a regeneration followed by optimization (as if you were doing it manually in the Media Library), resource usage could be minimized.

I gather that this isn’t a priority for them. ??

    Also, my security plugin reports…
The plugin developer chose not to use SVN tags for this version, so actions such as file repair and file diff aren’t available.

It would be nice if that was fixed as well.

My client is not having any problems with your plugin.

My problem is that because the plugin has not been updated in a long time, security plugins (like the one I use, “Shield”) see the lengthy lapse in any updates as a sign of an abandoned plugin and therefore a possible security risk… Even though there is no demonstrable security risk.

As someone who maintains many WP sites, dealing with these security flags is a pain.

Might I respectfully suggest a bump in the version of the plugin so that these types of warnings are avoided?

As for the lack of response to questions in the WP Support forum… I just find that rude.

    Butterfruit,
I don’t know which plugins you use for WordPress security, but I’d recommend the “Shield” plugin. I use it for my clients’ sites and they rarely get spam from their forms.
It has a setting (in Integrations) to block spam in WPForms (specifically) without using any Captcha.

It’s also a great security plugin!

Thanks for the quick reply Corey!

The Black Hole for Bad Bots plugin is authored by Jeff Starr. I’m sure that he would be happy to work with you to address the incompatibility!!!

    Hi David,
My apologies! I didn’t RTFM sufficiently – obviously!

On my quick read, I had assumed that activating the Kirki plugin would simply add the various controls to the WP Customizer and that I’d (likely) turn on or off the controls I wanted from within a Kirki settings interface and would be theme agnostic… Obviously not!

Looking at your page on integration I can now see how to set up the “recommend install” button in the WP Customizer for a given theme… Though the documentation doesn’t really go into exactly what occurs once the “Install” button is clicked.

As I mentioned, my goal would to have a Kirki theme-agnostic installation. Might that be able to be accomplished via a file in the mu-plugins folder?

This is happening on a couple of my clients’ sites as well.

    Please fix ASAP!

I’ve looked around and there are evidently many plugins and themes getting the
“This Block has encountered an error and cannot be previewed” error.

Evidently it’s something to do with changes to the Gutenberg API in WordPress 5.5.

Downgrading WordPress to an earlier version fixes the problem.

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks!
It had been my understanding that WP 5.5 removed JQuery Migrate… Which could cause problems if a plugin depended on it.
…And that the Enable JQuery Migrate Helper plugin added JQuery Migrate back in and would announce that a plugin that you were using depended upon JQuery Migrate.
I have had clients’ site break because of JQuery Migrate being absent.

Yes, I had seen your recommendation about WP Recipe Maker and it looks really good! However, my client, who has been using WP Ultimate Recipe, has a lot of recipes entered and maybe I missed it, but I didn’t see a mention of being able to import Ultimate Recipe entries into Recipe Maker.
