Cate, this is the same across various themes and different installations, but I do not have this problem with my single/simple installations (not multi/network). This has started about six months ago I think. I think I read somewhere in the WP help that, for multisites, you can change the theme directly in the top/head site, but to change for subsites, you need to create separate child themes for each. Haven’t had the time yet to try this, but I have not had this problem in the past. Plus, what’s the point of a multisite if I cannot easily use different themes for different subsites? But maybe with the new upgrades the child method must be used. If you try it and successful Andrew, let me know in comment here ??

Thank you for your response. The site is
    https://www.islandhoppinginthephilippines.com/
    and the subsite is
    https://www.islandhoppinginthephilippines.com/palawan/

Some of the subsites I can just easily migrate to and stay logged in while others not. Now I am having a problem logging into this second one.

I don’t recall installing a single site under the network. However, recently I did try to install a single site into a subdomain, but it did not work, so I uninstalled it. It seemed to happen at the moment I accidentally ticked “remember me” when logging in, or perhaps that was just my imagination.
