In reply to: [Graceful Pull-Quotes] [Plugin: Graceful Pull-Quotes] Duplicated QuotesWhen I try to import the “Add Quicktag” data file the author of Graceful Pull Quotes recommends, I get a horrible screen full of errors. Any clues appreciated. I’d like to add the “Add pullquote” button to the quicktags somehow. Not sure this is the place to post this.

In reply to: How Do You Delete Imported Sample Content?I finally just went in and deleted everything by hand. Seems like there would be an easier way, though. Whew. Thx again though.

In reply to: How Do You Delete Imported Sample Content?Under Tools — Import — WordPress. That is the importer.
Yes I looked in uploads. The sample content I’m talking about is things like fake posts, and page structure, and things like that. Extensive menu items.

In reply to: How Do You Delete Imported Sample Content?Weird, but I deleted the entire theme and the sample content still shows. Which is why I am confused as to where it actually IS. But thank you for responding!

In reply to: 500 Error When I Create A New PageMay be something to do with setting “permalinks” to a “nicer” setting? And it tries to do stuff to my .htaccess file. But no idea what or why or how to fix.
Hi Mike, if you check this thread, can you help me with an error?
I get this every time you issue an update and it tells me to upgrade the database. My server says safe mode is off but I can’t tell about the other stuff; I guess I don’t have access to php.ini? Anyway, this is the error I get in my WP admin area:
Warning: fopen(https://geolite.maxmind.com/download/geoip/database/GeoLiteCity.dat.gz) [function.fopen]: failed to open stream: Connection timed out in /home/foo/public_html/sitename/wp-content/plugins/visitor-maps/class-wo-update.php on line 414 download_file error: reading or opening file
Appreciate any help!

In reply to: Automatic Upgrade to 3.1 Not WorkingStevem, thank you! My host apparently “updated” something on the server that makes it so WP auto-updates WORK for me now! YAY! I’m glad I asked, but I wouldn’t have KNOWN to ask them had it not been for your help! Thank you SO much.

In reply to: Automatic Upgrade to 3.1 Not WorkingInteresting. I opened a support ticket with my hosting service and pointed them to the thread Stevem mentioned (above), and they responded quickly with, “The server has been updated to allow updates.”
I will try using the auto-update from inside WP again and hope it works this time. Thanks again, Stevem!

In reply to: Automatic Upgrade to 3.1 Not WorkingStevem, just to be sure I’m understanding you: “The good news is that if you upload two files with the selected changes (wp-admin/includes/file.php and wp-admin/includes/class-wp-filesystem-ftpext.php) then the update to 3.1 works well and quickly.”
… by that you mean grab those two files from the NEW WP 3.1 and upload those FIRST and THEN try doing “auto-update” from inside my WP dashboard?
Sorry, confused here!

In reply to: How Do You Remove ALL Feeds From WP 3.05Thanks for helping, again. I did try the code and it made all kinds of errors for me. Sorry but I kinda gave up for now. But thank you!
I have the same exact problem as the poster immediately above (MTPrower).

In reply to: How Do You Remove ALL Feeds From WP 3.05Thank you so much! I will try it. ??
How about if I just delete feed-related files? All of them. Wherever they are. Not that I know where they are. Or which ones.

In reply to: Automatic upgrade for plugins no longer workingI’ve never had any luck getting “automatic upgrade” to work for updating plugins either. Using latest and greatest version of WP, too.
It either says it cannot create a directory (wp-content, but sometimes it says it can’t create “public_html” or otherwise fails. Been this way for ages, though many incarnations of WP. Sigh.
I see a lot of “solutions” when I search the forums here, but I’m wondering if anyone really has the definitive answer on this? It seems to be a recurring problem for a lot of people.
Just asking. ??
OK, I reinstalled the NEXTGEN plugin from scratch and activated the THICKBOX effect and it is all working now. I have no idea what caused the problems I was having adding more than one “gallery” to a post or page.
Just wanted to add this in case someone comes along wondering what happened in the end: my answer is, “I don’t have any idea.”
Good luck everyone and thanks again.
