That’s too bad. I’ll just delete it. As I said, YMMV.

Yeah, what they said. I’m not gonna risk it ’til the legalese is much improved. Sorry.

Just found this. Might try it. FYI.

I’m having this same issue, using latest Chrome (as of today) and yep, the WP admin menu is all messed up when you mouse over. Gah. Thank you for the info as to the Chrome devs KNOWING about it and working on it, Sabinoo! This has been driving me crazy (crazier).

Tried everything and then some. ‘Tis a mystery. I manually entered the key in the config file and it now shows the Akismet page inside the admin area like it should have after activating the plugin. Very odd. This has now happened on several sites I run, one of which was default as heck, so it’s not a plugin conflict or something like that. And using the same shared hosting for over a decade with no settings on their end causing any problems. Whatever this is, it’s sudden, new (last two weeks?) and random, near as I can tell. Hope this helps someone else narrow things down. Meanwhile you can always enter the key manually as I have done on a couple sites. Best of luck!

Same issue, Akismet support worked with me via live chat for a long time. Unable to resolve. Anyone comes along with a fix for this (free version of Akismet), please share! Thank you so much. It just shows the word “Akismet” at the top left and the page is BLANK. Tried everything: deactivate, reactivate, install, uninstall (both vita FTP and via admin “add plugin” methods), enable “debug” mode and NO LOG shows with errors, cleared cache (duh), etc. etc. etc. etc.

Hey, did you watch their support video? At around 3:30 mark in the video he tells how to do blockquotes (you have to create a “control” and know which selector to target in your theme, in mine it’s blockqute, as in his video). FYI, maybe it will help you, anyway.

As the original poster, I actually very much appreciated knowing that others were having the same problem, first of all, not that my opinion on that matters in the least. But there it is.

When I say “FTP screen inside my admin area” I figured you knew what I meant. My bad. Hmm, I’m not sure what it’s actually CALLED, but I ALWAYS entered my FTP creds into the actual WP-ADMIN area itself whenever I 1) installed a plugin; 2) updated a plugin; or 3) updated WP itself. I can’t be the only one doing this? It’s been this way forever, too. And of course, the first thing I did was disable all plugins on a test site and try the update; no luck, hence my posting here to see if anyone else was getting the “non-updating” “just blank” “no success page” “update.”

And sure enough, it appears to be happening to others. Good to know!

So, again, thanks to everyone, and especially for letting me know it is a bug with the update.

I think the best course for me is just to wait and see if the devs get a grip on this one soon. I did updated one site manually (i.e., the old-fashioned way, heh) and of course that was fine. But tedious, because I’m used to clicking update and entering my FTP creds in the admin area as I explained above.

I will wait to do the other 20 or so sites ’til the bug is … addressed. It isn’t hurting anything for me to check and click “update” in my WP-admin area from time to time and see if the screen changes (i.e., if it actually DOES ‘update’).

Also, I would guess (?) that if enough people open individual “cannot update, blank screen in wp-admin is actually doing nothing” threads, perhaps it will receive attention from the devs a bit sooner? Shrug.

    ??

    Thanks so much, again, all.

Thank you so much! It’s not showing as an update pushed to the site yet, but as soon as it does I’ll install and let you know/review. I already rated the highest rating and updated again just now.

    Thank you SO much!

    Stefan/Mark, hi!

Is there any general timeframe as to when this fix you mentioned making will be actually be implemented:

Unfortunately you can’t change this right now. It is necessary to re-write a function of the Plugin. I will do my best to change this function ASAP and notify you as soon as a new release version with this fix is published.

Sorry to bug you! I know you’re working on it, and busy. I just LOVE this plugin and want it to jump so it clears that black bar at the top of the the theme I’m using. ??

    Thanks!

    Hi Mark,

Wow, what a good coincidence for me, then, that you happened to be discussing where the jumps should go, right at the time when I have this issue with this theme!

I’m all for whatever you guys want to do, or have to do, that will let the plugin play nicely with the theme I linked to (above). So, yes, do whatever you guys think will work! Thank you so much, again.

    Thank you for the reply!

If you give me a CLUE as to which files to look in and what to try change (I know just enough CSS/HTML to be dangerous!) I will try to play with it myself?! Kinda desperate for a fix for this!

Wow, you already added this feature! Thank you!! ?? LOVE this plugin. Love it love it love it.
