I’ve seen headers no longer responsive and the front content boxes and navigation bar having problems. Maybe they are all fixed, I don’t know. But I’m kind of gun shy with update problems after my site broke with a wordpress update.

If I’m understanding you correctly, try Appearance–>Header–>and click Disable Main Menu Hover Effect.

Never mind…here’s what is needed in the custom css:

body #header.sticky-header img#logo-image { display:none; }

No, I’ve tried that. That disables the entire navigation from being sticky. I WANT the sticky navigation, I just don’t want the header to be included on the sticky navigation bar.

OK, I’m not making myself clear. I don’t know css so I have no idea either what code to add to the child theme (so I can adjust it) or where I can find it on the parent theme to copy and adjust for making edges wider. Can you show me what the code would be to add to the child theme?

Is this something I can add to the child theme? I’m afraid if I change it the parent theme it will disappear with updates.

HOORAY!! That worked. Thanks, Calvin! I wasn’t able to put up an oval button (size wouldn’t fit), but I did find a heart that I liked and put that up. It looks great. And I even found the code in the header.php for title text so hovering will show up “Donate via PayPal”.

I can’t tell you how much I appreciate you taking the time to help me get this up and running!!! I’m totally blessed.

I was reading stuff on whether or not it was supposed to be function or functions (the parent theme has the plural version). So I tried changing it to the plural and all the code showed up at the top of my website, above the header. It was quite funny!

BUT my question is, should I copy all the code from the parent theme to my child theme functions.php file and then add the additional code you list at the bottom? I didn’t. I simply created my function.php file for my child theme and only put in the code you listed above.

OK, question. I created a header.php file and only put in the code from your other page (I didn’t copy the header.php from the parent them and add your code to it) and uploaded that to my child theme folder. So far, so good — nothing broke. ??

Now, since I don’t have a function.php file in my child theme, I created one and put your code above into it, just like I did with the header.php and uploaded it (via filezilla) to my child theme folder.

Then I uploaded a button image and replaced your image url, adding the code above to they style.css section of the child theme.

But nothing shows up in the Customize Social Networking section for me to link to.

I’m sure I did something wrong — but at least I didn’t break my theme, that’s a good step.
