I have solved the problem on iPhone by applying this CSS:

img { -webkit-touch-callout: none; }

This prevents the ‘Save Image’ popup from being displayed when you touch and hold an image.

I am going to try to recreate the product as a new product (69 variations) – hopefully the import suite can be of some assistance for this.

I have exactly the same problem.
Any updates on it? Very frustrating.
