  • I have the same issue on my faq’s page. It used to work fine but now it’s not and only noticed this today. Something must have changed when an update has taken place.
Iwish – What’s this about a javascript conflict and where do you check the consoles?
I was quite happy with this plugin but will have to move onto another one if there is no fix for this.

    No I don’t have to use a tilday… just localhost:8888/mysite

Right I’ll try again although when I said I copied files – I had downloaded fresh wordpress 3.5.1, unzipped folder and copied and pasted these new files into my htdocs folder…

I will try again… and let you know. The problem is I cannot figure out why this would have affected my other sites on localhost.

Not that I can recall. Wouldn’t know how to change http.config file or host file. All I remember doing was removing all files related to the one site and started from scratch. ie copied over the latest wordpress files to a new folder htdocs, and went through my normal process in MAMP setting up database and configuring wp-config.php… after that nothing worked.

    Using OSX version 10.6.8.

    Thanks for your time.

    Hi Gabriel

Well, have had a look and there are certainly a lot of errors, which don’t really mean much to me at all :((

The one that I find quite confusing is:
[Mon Mar 25 14:34:16 2013] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] File does not exist: /Applications/MAMP/htdocs/petmemorials.co.za/worksurfacetechnologies.co.za, referer: https://worksurfacetechnologies.co.za:8888/

Is there anyone you know who would be able to interpret my log file for me. Just confused to what has suddenly changed.

    Regards
    Karen

Pete_398 – sorted. Thanks. I had started going down that road and realised something had changed with admin user_login. Have now changed it in the table.

    Thanks for that. That worked.
However, now that I have imported my backup DB it says “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.” when trying to log in to wp-admin. Is there a way I can check user privileges?

Just wondering if there are any other solutions for me to get my site working again.

    Hi Esmi
I’m seriously at my wits end now. I’ve tried to do what you’ve suggested and still end up with errors, or Update WordPress Database, etc – I’m getting to the point where I’m not sure what’s going on anymore.
If I have all my original theme files backed up as well as my database backed up. Can I not just do a wordpress reinstall completely – creating the database again etc and then import my database and copy over my theme files.
I’m so far behind on this since updating to version 3.5 it’s starting freak me out. I cannot move forward.
Is there no way someone can look into this for me?
Thanks for your support so far.

I’ve added “-old” to my theme folder and reset the plugins folder by adding “.hold” to it.

Now when I try to login into wp-admin I can get in but the dashboard tells me:

“ERROR: The themes directory is either empty or doesn’t exist. Please check your installation.”

On the left sidebar the only options I have are:

    Dashboard
    Posts
    Comments
    Profile
    Tools

    Thanks for your quick response.

Okay I did that and now still get the error:

“You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.”
This is from when I am trying to login into wp-admin.

    @ Esmi
Tried to get someone to help me with this issue but it’s happening so attempting it myself. I have a backup of my database and theme files.
So WordPress has noted that there is no wp-config.php file and wants to configure it.
I’ve gone through the database name, user, password etc and now have the next page saying to INSTALL NOW.
My question is surely this is then going to overwrite wp-content which you mentioned not to replace in your earlier response.
Can I just copy the folder wp-content and replace it with the new one once the installation is complete. I have to get this right.

    (@karikirch)

I deleted all files and folders other than wp-content and replaced them with the new files and folders, so assume wp-content is the same.
Perhaps I have deleted wp-config.php in amongst this but didn’t realise I shouldn’t have. What now?

    (@karikirch)

Not if I had followed the instructions you gave.

    Thanks Esmi for your reply.
I have gone through the points mentioned and now have a page that says

“There doesn’t seem to be a wp-config.php file. I need this before we can get started.

Need more help? We got it.

You can create a wp-config.php file through a web interface, but this doesn’t work for all server setups. The safest way is to manually create the file.

    Create a Configuration File”

Next set of pointers would be great. Thanks.

Well that worked, which is what I tried earlier, hence posting this message. Must have been a cache thing – cleared history.
Thanks guys, appreciate the speedy input.
