What kind of things go wrong in the sidebar? Category names? Page titles? Text that comes from a post or page? A link would be nice…
Regards,
Karel
I am not sure you need to change UTF-8, see:
https://www.columbia.edu/kermit/utf8.htmlI can see all characters unencoded in the HTML source view. Perhaps it’s just the editor that doesn’t like the chars. If that is the case, you could try editing the text somewhere else and copy+paste.

In reply to: Home.php Text Repeating itself. You have put the welcome text inside the loop. Put it before the loop (=before the
<?php if (have_posts())
, and it won’t get repeated for every post! (And add code to show the posts!)Regards,

I have a blog where all feeds are disabled, as far as I know. I didn’t think we needed the functionality. Now we have another reason?

In reply to: Only Admins can comment and post and get emailsSo the comments are in the database? You could check this. If they are, perhaps the code to show the comments is missing in the template? Just a guess.

Wan’t there a solution with permalinks starting with /index.php/(and-then-the-permalink-structure-as-required)? This supposedly bypasses the need for .htaccess. Worth a try, perhaps.

In reply to: Selective User Login FailureI think I have experienced a similar problem, when I tested with more users *with the same email address*. (Myself as admin and ‘normal user’.) Did you use the same address for all users? Then try using different ones with any spare hotmail or yahoo addresses you might have.

In reply to: Adding a theme? HOWOK, let’s check the obvious things first. You upload a theme to a new folder in the Themes folder. Did you do this? When you have done that, the theme should become visible in the admin display page. Reload if necessary.
If not, it is time to ask again, but not to copy files from another theme.

Karel
I see. You are right, of course. But he has “proudly powered by WordPress” on (I guess) every page of his site. I would call that a redeeming factor ?? (If he needed one.)
No mention of WP on that macromedia page.
Yes, there is, below the right hand column.

In reply to: Moving the More LinkUnder the (abbreviated) content looks like the logical place to me. In case you want to play with the placing, use the excerpt instead, and place a link to the whole article wherever you want it, and disguise it as ‘more…’ if you like.

In reply to: Our WP site for our ChapelThanks for your remarks, pcmt and JohnPope. As regards fluid vs fixed, just this: as my site is very simply laid out, it probably doesn’t make much difference. I don’t need a lot of control, which is what you gain most from a fixed width layout. And I doubt if people with a 1600px+ wide display (+/- 1% of our pageviews, topping out at 1920×1200), use their browser windows at full width anyway
Patrick, I am from Nijmegen (not a native, and way too young), so your website contained an interesting surprise for me! I deeply respect the efforts of people like your father.

In reply to: Our WP site for our ChapelSorry! It seems the DNS change propagation has just started. I thought we had that sorted out, but Poodle Predictor can’t find it either. I’ll give a bump when Poodle succeeds in finding the site.
