In reply to: Headache-free upgrade from 2.7 to 2.8?Woops! I gotta take that back, about the Pages order. Obviously I missed something; and it’s working A-OK now!

In reply to: Headache-free upgrade from 2.7 to 2.8?Well, I upgraded again. This time with a renamed themes directory, etc.
Had to put my widgets back (just like last time) but boy this time (in 2.8) it’s a heck of a lot easier!
I’m a little disappointed that the Pages order is still buggy, but it’s a minor issue…

In reply to: Headache-free upgrade from 2.7 to 2.8?I modified the default (Kubrik) theme.
Thanks for your tip. I’ll see what I can do with that, sounds easy enough.
Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: Installing wordpress on justhostI’m on JustHost myself. Log into your control panel, and there is a link somewhere to install WordPress. Painless, fully automatic, and worked fine for me.

In reply to: Need help changing some colorsOh my!
I started that Firebug debugging process again tonight – with a fresh mind. It turns out I was looking at the wrong things the first time…
Anyway, I was able to change the post title color, and some other things. More to be done, but now I know how ??
Thanks for the great tip – it’s a steep lurning curve!

In reply to: Need help changing some colorsThanks for all your answers so far.
But I need more help. I’ve downloaded Firebug and have stared myself blind at the source code. I just can’t find it.
I was reading in the documentation a few days ago that I need to edit the h2 properties. But when I do that nothing changes. Maybe I’m still not looking in the right place?
If someone wants to have a look the blog is at k5ww.com/WP . What I still need to change (but can’t find where) are: the post’s titles (now dark grey), the color of the links under the posts (category/edit/comments) and the links at the bottom or the blog (proudly sponsored by… line), and the links in the calendar. These last three are all some blue now; but I’d like to change them into some color that “bites” a little less, on the black background.
There are some other colors that I’d like to change but I’m hoping someone will point out what I’ve been doing wrong, and I’ll be put in the right direction so I can continue on my own.
Thanks in advance!
Erik

In reply to: Unable to log in / access dashboardGosh, thanks for restoring my sanity!
I had read the post about whitespaces at the start and end of files; but that didn’t help.
But yes, I did copy and paste. Removed the 4 lines, copied the new code again, first to Notepad and then into wp-config, and all is working fine again. Phew.
Thanks!
