  • This fix <style>.post-author { display: none; }</style> didn’t just remove “written on at” it removed categories and tags too. Is there a way to just remove “written on at”? Or what .php file is that located in the plugins editor I can just remove it there.

    On a side note, I wish WordPress designers would understand that at least half of all WordPress users are using WordPress to just build a website and we don’t need all the post data like date, author, time, etc. There’s never an easy way to get rid of that. WordPress started out as a blog platform but it grew because everyone just started building basic web pages with it. A lot of times posts will be used as permanent pages because that’s the way the theme is set up or it’s just easier that way. Even with a blog that people update on a regular basis people don’t want that extra post data. Who cares if someone doesn’t know the exact date and time the post was written? It’s at the top of the page anyway and people know it’s the latest post. It just makes the site ugly and 90% of what I do it’s totally unnecessary.

    No it is not. I have been through the FAQ. That’s why I come here to get more specific information.

    I’m assuming you mean this.

    I want to modify some of the styles in the calendar. View your site using Firefox browser with Firebug plugin activated. Read about using Firebug and learn how to “inspect” specific page elements for styling. Once you have settled on the look you want, add the overriding style to your theme’s css not the custom.css file (the custom.css file is not preserved when the plugin is updated). Confirm your changes with Firebug, it’s an invaluable tool for web design.”

    That is not an appropriate answer.

    Or this?

    How can I change current day background and font color? Add the .fc-state-highlight class to your theme stylesheet and apply the desired color rules.”

    That is also not an appropriate answer.

    So no, this particular issue is NOT covered in the FAQ.

    That’s not true. I’ve done quite an extensive search. And each time someone asks about changing the color you do not answer the question and/or no one else does. I don’t understand why something as simple as being able to control or change the background color is nowhere to be found.

    By the way eastott I went to your calendar page and looked at your calendar. It looks like crap. It’s the same color as the background of the page. Why would anyone want to have a calendar that’s just a series of numbers on a page? Or a calendar of clear boxes the same color as the background? This is absurd.

    It should be the first thing someone would want to have a simple control for. OR a simple way to edit the code in the plugin that just changes the color for the background. Am I asking too much here?

    Which custom.css file? You mean my theme’s custom.css? Or your plugin’s custom.css? Your custom.css file says this at the top.

    “DO NOT EDIT – CHANGES MADE TO THIS FILE WILL BE LOST ON PLUGIN UPDATE”

    Also if you mean your custom.css file for your plugin just exactly where do you edit the background color? Can you be more specific?

    I don’t understand why you can build a plugin that has options to easily change the colors for each category but you didn’t create a simple option to change the background color of the entire calendar. I shouldn’t have to edit the css style sheet just to select a color of the entire calendar. My calendar is clear on every day and it’s the same color as the background of my site.

    On another thread you told someone who asked this same question to just do a search for “ajax event calendar css”. (That was not an answer). Yet I did do a search in WordPress forums for “ajax event calendar background color” and “ajax event calendar css color” and all kinds of other combinations for this simple thing but there’s really not much to find.

    Even here on this thread you didn’t answer the question on how to edit the css to change the background color. You wrote.

    “Hmm…
    Try looking at these lines, and adding colors as desired:

    .fc-grid th{text-align:center}
    .fc-grid .fc-day-number{float:right;padding:0 2px}
    .fc-grid .fc-other-month .fc-day-number{filter:alpha(opacity=30);opacity:0.3}
    .fc-grid .fc-day-content{clear:both;padding:2px 2px 1px}
    .fc-grid .fc-event-time{font-weight:700}”

    What does that mean? Or where do I add the color for the background? This should be simple. People install plugins so they don’t have to write code. And just changing the color of a calendar with a clear background doesn’t seem like it should be this hard. I can go through code and find colors. (#FFFFFF or #800000 etc) but in that code above there is no color hex to change.

    I’ll keep looking through these forums but I thought this would be the first thing someone would want to change if they used your plugin. Everything else works fine with this plugin. I just don’t understand why you overlooked this one simple thing.

    Wow. Cool site cdeguzman! Nice work.

    Isn’t this thread supposed to be for “Feature requests; criticism”? That’s why I started it. It’s just my point of view on what would make things easier for everyone. Looking at the whole picture of how this tool is used in the real world. The real world of people who wouldn’t know where to start to edit a .php file in 3 seconds.

    And no it doesn’t take 3 seconds to remove everything off WordPress to make it look like a website. I have above average computer skills and I know it took me a while. I’m also saying this because I know a lot of people who need a website and this is the easiest tool going right now to get a page online. And you know something is going on when you have the government and media corporations complaining about WordPress. The last thing they want is for everyone to be able to make a webpage.

    But even so “Comments are off” is like saying out loud, “I am being quiet now!” when the librarian just told you to shut up.

    Thanks but that didn’t work because I had already got rid of those in the index.php. It looks like what the problem was my inline posts plugin needed to be edited.

    What bothered me the most was the “0 comments” when comments were supposed to be off. So I found that in my inline posts plugin and deleted the comments link line.

    I would think the WordPress settings would over ride any and all plugins and themes. Especially if you’re telling WordPress in the admin to turn off comments. When you still have the link that says “0 comments” it looks like no one cares to even comment on what you wrote when actually you have the comments off.

    (@jzenman)

    On the front end? You delete maybe a couple lines of code and it’s gone.

    Oh dude. How do you do that? That’s the last thing I need on my personal site. I got everything off except the time, dates and 0 comments in Blog.

    Here’s my Minimalist site.

    https://www.jamesinman.com

    Where do I find that? I got all kinds of conflicting instructions.

    Thread Starter jzenman

    (@jzenman)

    I’m not saying adding anything. I’m saying get rid of things. Simplify.

    Just type in “remove (insert blog feature here) WordPress” into Google and you can find thousands of hits of all kinds of blog features people want to remove.

    For instance even when you select the feature in admin to not allow comments it still displays the “0 comments” above the post. Why? What part of no comments does WordPress not understand?

    It’s also virtually impossible to get rid of the time, date and year the post was modified. Who cares? Like anyone needs that information on a simple site where you write things occasionally? Maybe I don’t want people to know I haven’t written anything in a while. But God forbid you want to take it off.

    Maybe WordPress needs to stay the same but someone should just create a plugin to remove every blog feature they want. Half of the plugins I’ve installed are the ones to remove things. So I’m saying it’s already too bulky. There’s all kinds of things in it you never use and just the simplest things people try to do they have to look up how to edit code. Give me a break.

    (@jzenman)

    That fixed it. Thank you. I’ll mark it down as solved.
