I can confirm this is an issue we have too,

Although we love this plugin, we have reverted to the Google CAPTCHA plugin provided by Woocommerce because we were losing sales.

We have this error : I have this WP message when I activate the plugin : “The plugin generated 1 character of unexpected output during activation. If you notice “headers already sent” messages, problems with syndication feeds or other issues, try deactivating or removing this plugin.” The q letter appears on the left top corner. This stops woocommerce from working and also is preventing login to the back end of the website. I have deactivated the plugin and every thing works again.

Followed your instructions as soon as I click settings the same error as above is shown.

I will start again with a new staging copy and let you know what happens.
