In reply to: Page won't open, browser tries to download a file insteadI resolved the issue. It’s quite simple !
Here’s what did work for me:
delete this line (or close to that)
AddHandler application/x-httpd-php52 .php .php5 .php4 .php3
from your .htaccess file. No idea how that got there!
I also found comment #5 on this post helpful: https://forums.hostgator.com/wordpress-index-php-downloads-instead-opening-t76354.html
To open .htaccess in cPanel:
Click File Manager and make sure to tick Show Hidden Files (dotfiles) before clicking Go. The .htaccess should show up where wp (wp-admin, wp-content, wp-includes) is installedIf you don’t have an .htaccess file, then it’s probably another issue you have.
Hope this helps someone, and have a great day!!!
It worked for me ! Thanks.

In reply to: Page won't open, browser tries to download a file insteadProblem is same for me. I moved my website from my test servers to main domain and now I am facing the same issue, Chrome downloads the “donwload” file on index.php, downloads “wp-login.php” instead of running the backadmin, Firefox doing same and IE is also SAME for me.
Help me please because my event is going to held on 22nd October so I am worrying!

In reply to: Godaddy SLOW hostingI have the GoDaddy deluxe hosting package now and I came here because of their advertising they are showing still top on Google results. I hosted 8 of my sites on wordpress, they were working better but just for 2 weeks. It was the time when I was using the windows deluxe hosting! I submitted the ticket and their already slow response center respond me to transfer your hosting package to linux, I moved. Websites are still slow! They told me to use some plugins like Total Cache…. blah blah.. I installed but the problem remains same. I use to submit tickets as like it is my daily duty… My sites are showing several types of errors like 500, 401, 403, 502.. at last, I am transferring my sites to Bluehost where I was before.. they were fine…. I will recommend you to don’t use GoDaddy shared hosting for wordpress multisite or even for single site…
