I am getting a little confuse about this process, it seem it is done in a 2 steps manner where step 1 is to put the fr_fr.mo files in wp_content – languages folder and select the language of wordpress in the Setting – General

Then step 2 is to translate the theme string and upload another fr_FR.mo file in the wp_content – themes – languages folder.

The plugin that you suggest would be use in replacement of step 2 ?

I am trying to translate my theme and have found the pot file and also opened it with POEDIT, but is there any reference text or do I need to translate each line on my own, surely there is a way to find most common string translated in french somewhere ?

Thank you for your answer, I saw that it was working but I was not sure if it was correct to do it this way. I was overly insecure LOL, it was so much simpler then I first thought it would be, I guess I thought it seem to easy to be true ??

Can I create a newtork to use it with sub/folder and not sub-domain. For exemple setup the english site at https://www.juliecloutier.com/en and the french site at https://www.juliecloutier.com/fr

Hi Dennis, thank you for your anser but I read that already. I already tried qtranslate. The other solution numbered 1-3 and 4 do not seem to be quite right for my needs. I also looked at a paying solution : https://wpml.org/ Maybe this would be the simplest.
