  • Hi

I will email you at the address given; thanks for the quick response.

    Best, Julian

    Hi,

This is looking very promising but a couple of questions – probably due to overlooking things as this is the 1st time I’ve tried this sort of thing (ditto MailChimp – I set up mailchimp, got an API key, it verified, plugin accessed the list – good)

Problem: I set it up for double optin and tested it with some spare email addresses I have but nothing has arrived. Any ideas – and how might I investigate further?

Secondly, there seems to be use of fields but I can’t find a list of their names. Any docs available?

Third – any finer style control lurking? It’s all a bit BIG ??

    Good work – thx

    Julian

PS Since I have reused* the code (in accordance with licence, notice is included) it would be helpful if the location of the fix could be detailed so I can fold it into my version.

    * My version is used to batch update 100’s of posts at a time without blowing the db away with old versions by deleting superseded posts (and does a couple of other minor things for my odd use-case.)

Yes, I’ve just hit this oddity too (the first time I’ve tried deeeper categories) with

    ,Book
    Book,Chapter
    Chapter,Chapter 1

    Which creates,

    Book > Chapter
    (Chapter) > Chapter 1

where (Chapter) is a separate hierarchical “Chapter” not under book, under which Chapter 1 is assigned.

Note that the hierarchical categories were already set up before importing.

    Look forward to the resolution

Thanks for the email. I re-read the FAQ and performed an uninstall/reinstall. Settings were kept… and log file was downloadable.

    Resolved. Thanks.

OK, worked out the comment to bin issue: not the use of “wiki” in the url but the /en. so it was legitimately being filed according to the blacklist.

    (Log issue remains)

I like the look of this plugin – and it was recommended by my hosting co (TSOhost), who I trust…

But I am struggling to understand the settings (as above!) plus…

    Q7 Re preload

“In ’Preload Mode’ regular garbage collection will only clean out old legacy files for known users, not the preloaded supercache files. This is a recommended setting when the cache is preloaded.”

That’s very ambiguous to me. Can you clarify and explain why it is recommended, how it relates to cacheing mode (rewrite, PHP, legacy) etc.)

    Thx, Julian

PS Plugin looks great (and was recommended by my hosting company, TSOhost, in whom I have great confidence) but I am confused by the settings/info…

Q7 What does this mean in practice “In ’Preload Mode’ regular garbage collection will only clean out old legacy files for known users, not the preloaded supercache files. This is a recommended setting when the cache is preloaded.” Brevity is good; clarity is better ?? WHat does/doesn’t happen if this “recommended” setting is not checked?

BTW I am using PHP cacheing, not legacy cacheing

    Thx, Julian

Thanks for asking Q1,2,3,4 3 hours before they occurred to me ??

<sigh> Sorry about that.. all I had to do was update the settings in the google developers console </sigh>

However, whilst authorisation has been granted, sending a test email returned this error

“Communication Error [334] – make sure the Envelope From email is the same account used to create the Client ID.”

    Any advice much appreciated…

PS If I knew how to search plugin support areas I would…

Ah. I told Google the origin was localhost:8080… would that be the problem? If so, how do I change the value in Postman? Thx.

    Hi James,

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I think it was a wording issue, and it all works OK provided one populates from post type… so I’m not sure what additional functionality you might be referring to as a future option* but glad to hear that there may be more to come: I have found it very useful. Many thanks!

Just one issue: the post limit = 0 only produces a maximum of 10 items. I see it being passed directly to wp_query as posts-per_page, and looking at wp_query in the codex, maybe -1 should be the value to return all posts? Seems to work for me ??

    Best regards

    Julian

    * Would be nice to be able to specify multiple taxonomy terms… I have “A-E” under two higher levels… would be nice to say #1, A-E and #2, A-E

    Thread Starter JulianSMoore

    (@juliansmoore)

As stated above menu population does not work on “Populate from Taxonomy”.

However, using “Populate from Post Type” and then using exactly the same taxonomy specification did populate the sub-menu.

The only problem is that I am only seeing a fraction of the published posts in the specified taxonomy in the menu

The posts should appear (they are all categorised correctly, published etc.) and when viewing by taxonomy in WP all are accessible (if one goes far enough back through “previous” posts), and other tests show that call category contents are being retrieved OK so it does seem to be a JC submenu issue.

Thanks for the prompt reply, as usual!

I had barely registered the Wiki Categories item on the RHS… I kept looking for a delete function near the add function I already knew*.

I tend to be rather short-sighted/tunnel-visioned when presented with problems… must get out of my box more ??

    Excellent support – much appreciated

    Best regards

    Julian

*In the event that there are others as naive in their I/F expectations as me, the addition of a “Delete Categories…” link/button that took the user to the Wiki Categories page might be helpful.
