I need to find a way to get this:

[catlist argument1=value1 argument2=value2]

to work.

I have tried both

[catlist category1= category=”book” tags=E numberposts=5 pagination=yes customfield_orderby=LNe order= asc excerpt=yes excerpt_size=55 excerpt_strip=no thumbnail=no thumbnail_class=cat_list_tn category2= category=”book” tags=E numberposts=5 pagination=yes customfield_orderby=FN order= asc excerpt=yes excerpt_size=55 excerpt_strip=no thumbnail=no thumbnail_class=cat_list_tn]

and

[catlist category1 =”book” tags=E customfield_orderby=LNe order= asc category2 =”book” tags=E customfield_orderby=FN order= asc numberposts=5 pagination=yes excerpt=yes excerpt_size=55 excerpt_strip=no thumbnail=no thumbnail_class=cat_list_tn]

but both just results in listing only the last field listed in sort.

The instructions for using a custom field in the orderby function go:

customfield_orderby – You can order the posts by a custom field. For example: [catlist numberposts=-1 customfield_orderby=Mood order=desc] will list all the posts with a “Mood” custom field. Remember the default order is descending, more on order:

Fine. Except where do I put the “Mood” custom field?

I tried, customfield_orderby=lastname (with lastname referring to last name of author of books listed, and put lastname=Yancey in the tags. Didn’t work.

I want the books on my Books by Authors pages to list them alphabetically by last name of author. Here’s a sample page:
