I came here to write an almost identical post.

I’ve narrowed the issue down by deactivating plugins – it seems Amelia doesn’t get along with the latest version of Elementor. Are you using Elementor on your site? If so, this may be the issue.

Would love a solution to this as I was just about to purchase Amelia for my client’s site.

sorry – solved by creating a header with the header/footer elementor plugin (not ideal as there is no option for transparent or sticky, but I’ll take it).

In case it helps, I found this article which essentially shows a developer how to add the functionality I’m trying to remove. One could likely work backwards from this to find a solution, but it’s over my head.

I can’t see one, no. Maybe I’m looking in the wrong wp-config.php file? I’m looking in the one for the website itself, which is a sub directory of my primary domain.

Thank you - the site is indeed in Dev Mode (see screenshot) and I cannot uncheck that box.

I couldn't find the Dev Mode line in my wp-config.php file (I did a command-F search) so could not disable that way.

There are no Fatal Error Logs.

Thanks James – just to be sure this isn’t a problem with any plugins or themes, I tried with a totally fresh site – zero plugins, using the Twenty Nineteen theme and it still won’t load via wifi.

I’m actually noticing the sites load ok when my mobile device connects to data – the speed issue happens when I’m just going through wifi, even though the wifi signal is strong and other sites load without issue. hmmm.

Tim’s code worked perfectly – I just added that to the custom css area of my theme and voila.

Steve’s may work too – I didn’t have to try it.

solved by installing yet another plugin – “Open External Links in New Window”

solved it

Fixed the problem by going in through CPanel, opening wp-content/themes folder and changing the name of the currently active theme folder.

Apparently doing this forces wordpress to change to the 2016 theme, which solved the issue.
