Thanks the fixed work. But it does appear to be strange why shortcodes would not be allowed – when putting in JavaScript in sidebar widgets users are responsible for making sure the JS code does not bomb or go outside the widget area.

[sendtokindle] shortcode does not work in Text widget in my sidebar. This happens whether I turn on in Look and Feel Page and Post or turn them off. So currently I have them on and appearing before and after Post but I would much prefer having Kindle button in the sidebar. Browser is Chrome 25. But same thing in Firefox and IE10.

    Hi –

I am having a mixed “successful” install of WordPress 2.8.6 on my localhost Apache/MySQL Web server[XAMPP = Apache 2.2, PHP 5.3.0 MySQL 5.1.37]

The blog appears but every page and posting is filled with warning messages like the following:

Warning: date() [function.date]: It is not safe to rely on the system’s timezone settings. You are *required* to use the date.timezone setting or the date_default_timezone_set() function. In case you used any of those methods and you are still getting this warning, you most likely misspelled the timezone identifier. We selected ‘America/New_York’ for ‘-5.0/no DST’ instead in C:\xampp\htdocs\wordpress\wp-includes\functions.php on line 43

So I immediately went into Settings and changed the the Time to Toronto and the time format and date format choice .

Yes, I remembered to save the changes.

No – it is still spouting out error/warning messages on every page!
    Any help would be appreciated.
