In reply to: Assigning posts and and categories to certain pagesDavio,
I don’t know the answer, but I have no doubt it can be done. I imagine that this would come down to having a theme that is customized to do exactly that.
It may be that one of the other fabulous community members has a simple plugin to recommend that may do that, or it may require something more substantial like having your theme customized to do it.

In reply to: Official twitter Widget IssueYour twitter widget is too large for the space it’s in.
Your widget area appears to be automatically adding a little space to the left, but that’s normal.
See the section that looks like…
width:300,
height:400,Try taking the width of your widget down to 250 and it should fit the space better… then tweek it from there.
Let me know if that works.

In reply to: My site content is gone, why?It seems like I experienced this once before… I’m trying to recall what it was.
Two things I can think of to try is to temporarily de-activate all your plugins and then clear your browser cache and see if it still happens.
Then try re-activating your plugins one at a time and retest. This will tell you if it’s a plugin issue and which one. Sometimes when you upgrade one of your plugins may now cause issues where it was fine before.
If that doesn’t work then I’d try looking through your Unix permissions.
One other thing, and maybe you should start with this first. I would Verify that your full link address for your pages haven’t changed. If you can compare your old page addresses with your current page links when you are in the editor.

In reply to: Assigning posts and and categories to certain pagesDavio,
Are you asking if a page can be assigned to a category? My understanding is that only posts get assigned to a category. But that just may be something I’ve not needed a solution for before.
What are you trying to actually accomplish with this? Just curious.
Thanks.

In reply to: read more… HelpGood question Meg. I don’t get that far into the coding. I’d love to hear what other’s think.
I’m sure there is a way. I’m sure the question is will you have to hire a coder to do it.
I’m just curious, can you post a link that shows how this app is supposed to work when you get done? I’m considering using it.
Thanks!
I was curious about this so I downloaded and installed the plugin. This should get you back up and running in no time.
From your WordPress Dashboard click “Settings” and within settings you should see “WPBook”. When you click Wpbook it will bring up the screen where you can configure the plugin.
Once you get on this page, you should be able to take it from there.
Regarding your co-worker not wanting to give you the application. Just escalate it to higher management and ask them what they want you to do about it. I can see why they want to be careful with the password, but it’s not like you’re keeping it unsecured.
It’s really a simple issue. Do they want this functionality or not.
Hope all this helps!
Have a great one!Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: dofollow links on my homepageJust an idea to consider. It may possibly be an option in your theme that you could update to allow links to be followed.
It’s worth a check anyway.

In reply to: Main navigation is disappearedSam,
Sometimes it helps to retrace your steps. What was the last couple of changes you made? What files were updated?
Usually that will tell you where to start looking for the issue.

In reply to: Would Like to See Sites using the FreshNews Theme. For bennefit of everyone else, I had answered flame in an email, but wanted to come back to the forum to make it public.
Yes – I am hosting my own wordpress with my own hosting company. Personally I think everyone should do it this way.
There’s a special setting in Fresh News that lets you adjust how many posts show full width before splitting to 2 collumn. From your WordPress dashboard click the ‘Fresh News’ tab. On the left you’ll see a tab labeled ‘Layout’ – click it.
Now set the “Home Featured Posts” to the number of posts you want to share Full Width.
Disabling the search has nothing to do with the issue you were experiencing that’s just a coincidence.
Was the issue with the boxes being cut resolved?

“You Don’t Know, What You Don’t Know”.
If you don’t know there’s an easy way, it’s kinda hard not to take the hard way.

In reply to: How do I control the order of the links to pages on a site?Yeah – I hate to say I’m one of those old programmers. Though, I’ve been out of that business for a while. I used to do COBOL for big government systems and natural adabase, but those jobs are all but gone these days.
