In reply to: [W3 Total Cache] Unable to update anything – Update 0.9.5Resolved (for my site at least). The key is to remove this plugin entirely to get your site back.
Each problem will be different –
This updated caused the dashboard and plugin pages to be inaccessible, but magically made white error pages appear. Fantastic!
First, I deleted the W3 plugin folder via ftp. This created new errors. Yay!
And updates to pages/posts were not updating at all.I had previously added W3 code to my wp-config file, so I removed all traces of W3 stuff there. This got the plugins page back, but errors were still appearing in the top section of the dashboard. I did exactly what the errors said to do – either update or remove certain files. I removed them. This has to be the worst site-breaking update to come along. H
I then deleted db.php and object cache php from the wp-content folder. This seemed to be the magic ticket, and the website magically started to work as it should. Pages/posts updated and the error notices in the dashboard were gone. But still testing and removing any more W3 files that were left behind.

In reply to: [W3 Total Cache] Faulty UpdateHey guys – the main thing here is to remove this plugin and all files associated with it! If you did anything to the wp-config file or htacess file in the past, remove any traces of w3 total cache from those files. Do this this carefully and make a backup of the original files first. I usually create a new folder and put them there. I always retrace my steps when it comes to WordPress.
I removed any files that the errors gave me – it will be different for some. But there is a db.php and object-cache.php files that need to go away in wp-content. Move them to your desktop and take a peek – they should only have W3 stuff in there. If so, delete them from the server (but keep backup files!) This got my site back to an almost “normal” state. Still working out the bugs.
Post what you have done so far, this is a world-wide freak of an update failure!!
Remember – backup first!

In reply to: [W3 Total Cache] Faulty UpdateThis latest update 0.9.5 is affecting everyone. This plugin seems difficult to remove or fix and I am trying all the tricks in the book! While the front end of our website seems ok, the backend is a mess! Can’t update anything and can’t access the plugin page!
