Is following the method above going to cause an issue down the line? It seems like you are skipping an update by changing the databases version number.
I went ahead and renamed my wp-admin and wp-includes to -old variants and uploaded the new ones in their place so i could go back to the old versions if necessary.
I found that if the wp-includes was the new one i had to update, if it was the old one then it said it was up to date. Don’t know if that allows anyone to zero in on whats up.
Unfortunately its a clients site, so i can’t do more tests till late tonight.
