In reply to: timestamp IN the postRight. I see that I had it wrong. So it works, and the quicktag works too. I’ll have to make a few changes to the date and time format. Good tips. Beel, champion of the quicktags!

In reply to: non breaking space@ podz: no, doesn’t work. I get the button but the <> shows once the post is published.
@ beel: if I undestand well, your solution would put 2 spaces automatically after each period. Right? But then, doesn’t that mean that “…” will be rendered as “. . . “?Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: non breaking spaceWell, I know. The point is to find a way to get the same result without having to enter each time I end a sentence.

In reply to: non breaking spaceAnd how do I do that?

In reply to: sub-folder vs root folder for urlphpprincess: thanks for the tips. For now I’ve used your first method, and it works, though one has the time to see the old page passing before the browser gets to the new one. But it will give me some time to explore the .htaccess method. In the mean time it at least allows all the new material to be viewed.

In reply to: sub-folder vs root folder for urlOK, but wouldn’t that force me to keep the old index.htm?

In reply to: changing index pageThanks but not sure where to put it. In the header? And shall I have to erase the old index?
JPForum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: changing index pageA somewhat similar situation: I have a (static) blog in my root directory (index.html) that I have reproduced on WP 1.2. I have installed WP in …/wp. Now that I am ready to make the switch, I want to erase the index.html file in order to replace it by the new WP index.php. For that I changed the blog address in the Options page to match the switch. Is it the way to go? I tried to move index.php to the root directory but — I should have known — it didn’t work. So, in resume, my question is:
old blog: https://www.carnetsdetoile.ca
new blog: https://www.carnetsdetoile.ca/wp
How can I reach the new through the url of the old? Clear? Humm…

In reply to: install.php can’t find “congig.php”OK. Everything is fine now. I followed Cena’s suggestion from another thread: entering by hand the full address in the browser, rather than trying to access the file on my host’s cPanel.
Thanks,

In reply to: install.php can’t find “congig.php”Perhaps, though given that it’s in a different folder it shoudn’t matter. I don’t think it’s the main problem. The thing is, it doesn’t seem to SEE the
wp-config.php
that it needs. I really am at a loss. Put in its most general expression, I CAN’T INSTALL. Help!
