  • If you gentlemen are finished, have shook it off and zipped up again.

I know just enough site building to be dangerous. I chose WP for our site because it was on the list of the different hosts that I use for install, so I figured it must be decent software. Using freeware software the size of the WP project usually has a decent group of trouble shooters on the support forums to help someone like myself that wants to get a group blog up. I find it a big short coming here. No one follows through with you to get your issues resolved.

There is someone in our group that keeps telling me that WP is flakey at best, and that I should delete it and start using something more stable. I am a bit hardheaded and want to prove him wrong, but am getting close to surrendering. I neither have the time or inclination to dig the bugs out and make the package run like it should. If I wanted to hire someone I wouldn’t be trying free software.

Thank you for any help that you can give but I don’t have much longer to wait to get resolved.

I used Firefox, IE, and Opera to test with and had the same issue with all.

    Regards

So what is the answer here? What is causing

Has everyone gone on vacation? I don’t have the time or inclination to to try to rebuild the software. I will try to fix a problem from a suggestion, but need a good one.

The software is no better than the support, and I feel it is pretty soft.

drmike, I see someone was having some of the same issues as I, and there are so many things talked about. Can you advise on which area we need to focus on?

    thanks

Oops, I still have issues. I created a second account at our site for testing purposes. I tried to start a new topic, pressed the newly displayed Publish button and get an error message (Are you sure you want to edit this post:””?)

I chose no and my post disappeared.

    Any ideas?

So many things to look for, so little time. sigh

I was able to start a new post while using my non-admin user account with Firefox.

I think I shall mark this one resolved

I have changed all users to Author status. Hope this does the trick.
One would think the default setting would allow posting or at least tell you the meaning of each setting.

    thanks

OK, All of the current users are set to Contributor, with one Administrator (me).
I am not sure if it a Firefox issue or not. The user emailed this morning that he was unable to post using Firefox.

Which of the choices “Editor” “Author” or “Subscriber” should I select for all of the users? I do have the must be logged in to post box checked.

I have run into the same issue. I tested setting up a new user account with a Yahoo address and received a password, tried again with a Verizon address and I still no email confirmation. I have 10 registered users, so the blog seems to be working for the most part.

Any ideas on resolving the concern with Verizon email addresses?

    thanks

No you do not have to have anything more than the ecno package. That is what I have WordPress installed on. You will have to have it running on the linux server, create a database, Unzip Word press, follow the instruction, create a folder, up load the software, find the install file, from the url and take it from there.

I just did it last thursday.

Thanks moshu, I am new to the blog software, and am trying to set it up for our site users. I am not used to going to a blank page once an admin edit has taken place.
