Yes it doesn’t look particularly nice… But apparently they are working on some customisation, here’s hoping. At least my blog’s pretty plain so it doesn’t cause major juxtaposition ??Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Not accepting password [Plugin: Stats]oh beg pardon… It WAS my wordpress.COM address.. not www.remarpro.com. Why are there two different logins anyway? Thanks.

In reply to: Serious spamming issues – please help!New update:
Well I wasn’t getting anywhere with Akismet problems, so I installed reCAPTCHA which puts a squiggly word on the page to avoid spam getting through altogether. And it works a charm! ??
And guess what… Now I’ve done that, my Akismet API key is working again ?? ah well, at least I have fort-knox-level security on there now ??

In reply to: Not accepting password [Plugin: Stats]I have just installed it and have the same problem. I have tried both my www.remarpro.com and my local wordpress blog logins but neither work. I am told that the password is incorrect…

You say you “nuked” the plugin… What steps did you take… Deactivated, then deleted and replaced?I replaced last night and it didn’t “nuke” it at all. The API key was still in the field. Where does it keep its prefs? Maybe I should delete those first.

In reply to: Serious spamming issues – please help!Good point. No I didn’t deactivate all my plugins, which was probably silly of me, I didn’t realise that was the way to do it. However I have deactivated all of my plugins and then just reactivated Akismet… And although it says it is running, obviously it has issues…

In reply to: Serious spamming issues – please help!Ahhh good (in a way) to see others having exactly the same problem. And yes, it seemed to work fine until I upgraded to 2.2.
I just upgraded to 2.2.3 and it seems to still be a problem. I am running Akismet 2.0.2.
Not only that, but my main page (crap as it may look) has also now stopped working… So not only can nobody real post to my blog, but spammers have full reign. Quality! ??

In reply to: Serious spamming issues – please help!Interesting…
This is what I get when I go to my Akismet configuration and try to udpate:
“The key you entered could not be verified because a connection to akismet.com could not be established. Please check your server configuration.”

It’s showing up in the list of plugins, and it is active. I entered my WordPress API a long time ago and it is not complaining, so I assume that is still okay. However: Ever since I installed 2.2, it’s been working in a really odd way. When I set comments as spam, they end up in the Akismet Spam folder. Akismet doesn’t seem to be doing any automatic checking any more.@innfinity:
Thanks – I’ll try some other ones too. See what I can get to work!Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Serious spamming issues – please help!bump!

In reply to: Serious spamming issues – please help! Also – when I try to bulk moderate comments and set them all as spam, it hangs for ages, then just goes to an empty page. And none of the spam is deleted…

In reply to: Adding “Listening to” from iTunes to postYou can do this by using iScrobbler from Last.fm – Just install the iScrobbler plugin into iTunes, then sign up for last.fm and you’ll get a feed of your recently played tunes. Then you can put the RSS feed into your blog however you like ??
(check out my sidebar at https://www.jowie.net/blog)
hope this helps.

In reply to: Akismet API Keyah got it! Apologies… You have to sign in to your .COM account, THEN click on the BLOG to go to the Manage settings within the BLOG.
I hate to look a gifthorse in the mouth, but there seems to be a step missing in the instructions… If this was mentioned it would avoid confusion.
I’m a little confused why I have to waste WordPress space by creating a blog on their webspace, just so I can get an API key for a completely different blog…?
