Another thing, I noticed that the FB Messenger chat box doesn’t appear when using product filters on Woocommerce’s Shop page. Is this normal?

    Hi Thomas,

Please excuse me for my slow reply. And thank you very much for answering my questions. I’ve set up my tags and triggers according to your advice (and how-to articles) and things appear to be in order so far. Now I understand a bit better about how GTM and GA works, so thanks again for guiding me through. ??

My apologies. I’ve found the real culprit and contacted the plugin author accordingly.

    Also,

I think it’s ok for the plugin to use Woocommerce’s built-in coupon system as long as the coupon discount is removed from Cart/Checkout page if a user changes to another payment method.

    Would this be possible?

    Best regards,

    John

    Hi,

I’m also experiencing the same issue.

Worse… if you click to remove the payment-method discount coupon from Cart or Checkout page, the Cart/Checkout page will automatically be moved to trash. –> Please check and fix this at least.

    Hi Josh,

    Thank you for your reply.

The affiliate plugin I’m using is YITH Woocommerce Affiliates Premium. The plugin assigns a static/unique affiliate ID, which will be present in the URL as well (e.g. mysite.com/?ref=22 >> in this case, the affiliate ID is 22). Please let me know if this is a relevant detail on the redirection.

One more question. Providing that your plugin works with affiliate link as detailed above, would it be possible to make it so that a URL coupon applies to all the URL that ends with, for example, /?ref=22? (Regular expression, is it?). If yes, this would be very useful.

    Please let me know.

    Best regards,

    John

    Hi @claudiosanches,

Thank you in advance for updating the plugin. I’ll be looking forward to it ??

    Hi nisto2016,

Thank you for your reply and for testing the calculation with me.

As there’s also a shipping cost in your calculation, I’ve replicated your calculation again, but I get a different result from your expected result.

    ————————————————————

First of all, can you please confirm the following:

    – Are you using Woocommerce default shipping feature?

    – Is your shipping cost of EUR 1.45 inclusive or exclusive of VAT? (note: if it’s inclusive of VAT, then please make sure to enter the cost before VAT in Woocommerce shipping options page)

    – Please make sure to clear your transient options (using WP-Sweep or other database optimization plugin). When I was replicating your calculation, Woocommerce failed to take into account of a new input in calculation without clearing the transient options.

    ————————————————————

This is my calculation, assuming your shipping cost of 1.45 is inclusive of 19% VAT:

    Final price
= [price before tax – (price before tax*1%) + shipping cost before tax]*1.19
    = [(100/1.19) – (100/1.19*1% + (1.45/1.19)]*1.19
    = (84.03 – 0.84 + 1.22)*1.19
    = 84.41*1.19
    = 100.45

And the VAT amount is supposed to be 100.45 – 84.41 = 16.04

But the VAT amount that’s actually shown on my Checkout page is 16.20 (and that’s because it doesn’t take into account of the payment discount in the calculation of VAT).

I also find it quite confusing when you said your final price should be 101.45 (instead of 100.45) and that in your sample, “just the discount amount is not accounted in correct way. But the final VAT amount…is accounted in correct way”. Could you please check on this again?

    Best regards,

    John

    Hi nisto2016,

Now I see that you’re going for an “absolute discount” of EUR 1.

I can also replicate your payment discount, and yes I confirm that the VAT calculation is correct for “absolute discount”. This is in line with the accounting (and legal) standard that any discount must be applied to the price before tax, and the new version of the plugin is doing a correct calculation at this point.

However, when it comes to “percentage discount”, the calculation is incorrect as I mentioned in my previous comment. So nisto2016, could you please test the calculation with percentage discount of 1% and confirm if you also get 15.97 instead of 15.81 (i.e. product price = EUR 100)?

The fact that the plugin accommodates both absolute and percentage discount is great, and I can’t thank Claudio enough for this. But as some users would go for absolute discount and some would go for percentage discount, I believe that it’s important to make sure that both discounting approaches are working correctly. So, nisto2016, I would appreciate it very much if you could please test the calculation of VAT for percentage discount as well.

    Please let me know.

    Best regards,

    John

    Hi @nisto2016,

Could you please check whether or not your VAT amount is calculated correctly?

I believe that the way the latest version of plugin does calculation (which according to the author is changed according to your support request) is incorrect.

By taking your example, if the regular price of your product is EUR 100 and you’re giving 1% payment discount to your customer, the net price before tax would be (100/1.19)*.99 = 83.19 which is the price you must use to calculate the VAT. The final price would then be 83.19*1.19 = 99 and the VAT amount would then be 99 – 83.19 = 15.81.

From accounting perspective, the net price (i.e. after discount) before tax must be used as a base to calculate the final price (i.e. after tax). This can be summarized in the following equation:

final price (i.e. inclusive of tax)
    = (price before VAT – 1% discount)*(1+19%)
= [price before VAT – (price before VAT)*1%]*1.19
    = [100/1.19 – (100/1.19)*0.01]*1.19
    = [84.03 – (84.03*0.01)]*1.19
    = [84.03 – 0.84]*1.19
    = 83.19*1.19
    = 99

The VAT amount in this case then would be 99 – 83.19 = 15.81.

With the way the calculation is done in the plugin’s latest version, however, the VAT amount is instead calculated from the price before discount (i.e. 100/1.19 = 84.03) which gives the VAT amount of 100 – 100/1.19 = 15.97, and I’m pretty sure that this is incorrect.

Please feel free to check this with GST/VAT calculator on this site https://gstcalculator.ca/germany, or consult this with your accountant if you want to be really sure.

    Please comment.

    Best regards,

    John

    Hi Claudio,

If I may clarify, the equation for the the final price above can be simplified further as the following:

    final price
    = (price before VAT – 2% discount)*(1+7%)
    = (price before VAT – 2% discount)*1.07

This can also be rewritten as:

    final price
    = (price before VAT)*1.07 – (2% discount)*1.07

I insist that this is the correct formula. From the IRS perspective, whatever price after discount (before tax) must be used to calculate the VAT.

And with regards to nisto2016’s request, if he wants to have the %discount to be based on the price before tax, all he has to do is divide entering 0.84 (i.e. divide 1 with 1.19) for his payment discount.

Again, please pay special attention to the VAT amount. In the case of nisto2016, if the regular price of his product is Euro100 and he’s giving 1% discount to his customer, the net price before tax would be (100/1.19)*.99 = 83.19 which is the price he must use to calculate the VAT. The VAT amount would then be 15.81, and the final price would be 99.

Effectively, as shown in the above equation, you would also multiply the payment discount with the %VAT. If you don’t, the VAT amount would become 100 – 100/1.19 = 15.97, which I’m pretty sure that it’s incorrect.

Perhaps you might want to check this with your accountant again. You might want to ask nisto2016 to check this with his accountant as well. More simply, you could also check the calculation with this link >> https://gstcalculator.ca/germany

    John

    Hi,

I would appreciate if you could help me on this as well.

I would like to replace the default Facebook login icon with this image Sign in with Facebook icon. I’m not sure if I did this correctly, but what I did is uploading this image to my media library and replace the url path of the following CSS code accordingly:

    .theChampFacebookLoginSvg {
    background: url(‘new icon url’) left no-repeat !important;
    }

But there seems to be a dimension issue. According to Chrome Inspect Element, it seems that this image is 492x108px. Here, I’m not sure if the image is also bound by some kind of image box that applies to the original icon image. Could you please advise me on this?

    Best regards,

    John
