    Thank you both very much. I “solved” it by figuring out how to upload the pre-updated versions of the plugins from ftp. Yes, your right WP can be very fickle. Wow that was nerve wrecking.

    Do you have any advice on what steps I should take going forward? How to I prevent this in the future. The situation I’m in now is that I can’t update my plugins without the site going down. I actually don’t need the site to be multilingual anymore…

    I can see I’m currently running WordPress 5.6.4, which I suspect is a very old version. And the browser says “not secure”. I recon I don’t really have the skills to actually maintain a WP site. How do I future-proof my site? Should I get a Squarespace or similar instead, and migrate the whole thing? What do you guys recommend?
