In reply to: Fatal error: Allowed memory sizeOK support at UK2.net tells me I have to add
memory_limit = 64M
in a new PHP.ini file as well as add
SetEnv PHPRC /home/username/public_html/php.ini
to the ht.access file.
But I have very little coding knowledge.
Could you tell me what the whole php-ini code looks like and is it just a notepad file called PHP.ini (ext: ini)?
thanks

In reply to: 123reg Hosting Multiple WP sites for multiple domains??Well as it happens I paid WP for Domain Mapping ($10 yr) and have started to get fairly decent results on google. That was the main problem. Really, if the free templates for WP.com get a little better, there’s not much reason for going through the rigmarole of full .org installations, learning codes and paying for extra hosting etc. anyway! Jeesh, I got enough to do already! Thanks all.

In reply to: 123reg Hosting Multiple WP sites for multiple domains??Hi Andrea, thanks. Does this mean (with your option A) that I’ll need a separate hosting account for each install or are you saying that (even in the case of ‘Websites for Dummies’ hoster, 123reg.co.uk) I will be able to host multiple installs and configure it all manually?
This is what 123reg said:
“The hosting package with 123 Reg will only allow you to have 1 domain linked to it.
Which means you can only have one Word Press web site per hosting package.”
Also on Networking WP:
“No, this feature would not work on shared 123-Reg hosting as it requires bespoke Apache configuration.”Forum: Networking WordPress
In reply to: 123reg Hosting Multiple WP sites for multiple domains??Thanks James.
My main issue is that I want to give clients full Author access to their individual WP accounts while I maintain control over the domain names I purchased for them – in addition I don’t want any of the penalising from search engines that might go with domain pointing / frames etc. etc.
Do you recommend a fast, cheap hoster in the UK that allows manual configuration (not 1-Click apps)? (Assuming DNS config for this is straightforward from the domain provider I’m with and again, doesn’t cause problems with search engines.)

In reply to: 123reg Hosting Multiple WP sites for multiple domains??Thanks but that’s a really complicated option!
According to
https://www.optiniche.com/blog/392/multiple-installs-single-database/
(in the case of using a single DB – before we talk about multiple domains pointing to multiple WP)….
1-click apps such as what Web Fusion provide are no good. This is also interesting https://wp-hive.com/
WP Hive is a WordPress Plugin that allows multiple WordPress sites to run on a single installation
