In reply to: Nice idea, but don’t get too cockyGreat! This is sure to be another go-to weapon in the war against spam, especially now that “the challenge” was issued. Filtering out the obvious spam first makes human filtering that much easier. I look forward to seeing how this plugin evolves.

In reply to: Blog post replaced by spamWhat do we need to do to secure our sites, since it’s not an issue of password strength?
Yes you can choose to use folders instead of subdomains. I don’t know the link name, but it’s accessible from the dashboard. There is a sub-menu below the main top navigation that has all of the settings on one page. I think that’s where you select subdomains or folders.
To nofollow all links, you’ll have to modify the theme files.

In reply to: Blog post replaced by spamI don’t keep the password it gives. It only uses lower-case letters and numbers. Create a new one with something odd, like spaces or punctuation. Make it a complete sentence, or even a mathematical formula.

In reply to: Schedule a post to be published at a future date: Does not workNo, but that’d be a good idea. Keep the upcoming posts from going live if you’ve manually published within x number of days. Good call. Did you try suggesting that in ideas?

In reply to: pages 1 2 3 etc instead of previous entries next entriesYeah, I use that plugin on my search.php page and it works like a charm. Highly recommended; it does exactly what you are asking for.

In reply to: Front Page is not the selected static page.Ah. Glad you found it, then. I had no idea what to tell you! There are other archives plugins which perform similar functionality. Perhaps you can try one of them?
You could still use a theme-switching plugin. Make the alternate stylesheet a new theme, referencing the main theme for all its templates, so all you’d have is a stylesheet for that theme.

In reply to: CSS: Using background-position and background-repeatWell, for one thing, why make it 1px high? That sure will waste a lot of bandwidth on larger pages. The one I just made for a site I’m building is 200px high, so it will only repeat a few times on most pages.
I’ve basically done what you’re talking about, too. The way I did it is to wrap the element with another div, and set the repeating background to that element. Then, the inner element has the gradient, and since it’s next in line, its background will go on top of the first one. In the end, you’ll have a gradient merging into a solid, repeating colour until the end of the document.
