In reply to: My new WP blogThanks, everybody – the only reason I mentioned the content of the blog was so that no one would be offended if they went there not knowing beforehand. Please, if anyone wants to make a critique of my politics, do so on my site and not on the support forums here. My main reason for posting here was to thank the people of the forums and WP in general because I very much appreciate the product, and to get input on the design.
Points well-taken on the hard-to-read aspect. I have been thinking about that, too. I may try another lighter skin and make that available, as anonymous mentioned above.
Thanks, everybody.Forum: Fixing WordPress

In reply to: Blogger import problemOk, I think I know what i did – at some point in attempting to do this import, i must have put “import-blogger.php” as the destination folder – thus overwriting my import-blogger script with the text from my old Blogspot blog. So I think I need to reinstall WP on my server. Does that sound right?

In reply to: Blogger import problemI don’t know what my file path is supposed to be. I know that my archives are going to wordpress.php; is this also the “blog filename” you have to enter in blogger? (for example: https://help.blogger.com/bin/answer.py?answer=121&topic=19)
I’ve never worked with a webhost until this week. It’s Vizaweb and I don’t have anything on it but WP. I used Fantastico to install it. I tried following the Wiki instructions, but here’s where I’m unclear (please forgive my computer-illiteracy; I know nothing).
When it says “Try the https://yoursite.you/wp-admin/import-blogger.php script”, does that mean you put it in your IE address window and hit “go”? When I do that, I get the text of my blog entries but they are unformatted or whatever. Is this right?
Also, I don’t know what “ok” buttong they’re talking about at the end of the Wiki. Sorry, but I’m completely confused.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Blogger import problemYeah, but I’m still doing something wrong. Nothing imported, and now I have this message at the bottom of my blog:
Fatal error: [] operator not supported for strings in /home/righton/public_html/wp-blog-header.php on line 469
I’ve moved some posts over manually just to see how it looks.Forum: Fixing WordPress

In reply to: Did I do it right?I also just noticed that the various links DO work if you put “www” in front of them, but not if it’s just “http”. Is this a normal part of the propogation process, or have I done something wrong?

In reply to: Did I do it right?Well, I’m not sure what my login and password are, actually. This morning marked the 24 hour point for my nameserver switch, so I checked it out and it was working. However, I tried logging in and could not figure out what my username and password were; then, after a few false tries, the domain name was suddenly not working anymore (it was showing “parked” by the people I registered it with).
Now, however, about an hour later, the domain name DOES work when you put www in front of it, but not if it’s just http. Also, once you’re there via https://www.rightonred.net, none of the links work (again, they go back to the “parked” message). Is this normal? Seems like I still might have some waiting to do for the name to propogate.
I’m new to all this; I’ve never worked with a webhost or anything, thus my ignorance of this process.Forum: Installing WordPress
