First of all I would like to apologize for not replying sooner. I would very much like to have more time to work on things such as Tag Gallery. Also, www.remarpro.com does not alert me regarding any community involvement so it’s rather easy for me to forget to check up.

The currently public version of Tag Gallery, which is nearly a year old, uses timthumb.php to generate thumbnails. Unfortunately, it is not very friendly regarding requirements and does not hold the hand very well at the moment. I have been working in my free time on a new version of the plugin and it should ameliorate many of these problems. Doing so, though, has introduced many other issues such as PHP and WordPress version problems.

After redesigning the plugin to be far more robust with much more functionality including CDN distribution and a plugin system for effects I’ve decided I went too far in the new version. I am currently planning the more logical release cycle for new features while allowing for more risk averse users to make use of the newer developments. I understand this is may appear odd but it’s very normal for a software developer to eschew norms to explore better possibilities.

From consultation with friends I’ve concluded that many of my feature additions are not readily usable and much of the changes, architecturally, would not be taken advantage of in such a way that possibly abandoning many users would make them worth while.

I will be, I hope, finding time to release the new versions of Tag Gallery beginning shortly. I’ve setup the public repo’s along with the redmine issue tracking for the project and hope to find time soon to start the release cycle. I apologize if this impacts your project currently. Hopefully the new releases will meet your expectations.

I’ve staked dates too many times and am well aware that they are so easily disrupted. I will say, I can say, this summer will see a lot of growth for Tag Gallery. Public growth. Not simply engineering explorations but a consistent, reliable release schedule.

    Aloha,
    Johnny

P.S. If anyone is interested in helping please let me know. Pulling thumbnails from video, pdf, txt, html, or finding appropriate images to represent mp3s is tough on a budget of zero. Let’s build a killer thumbnailing application for all media types!

    Reginaldo,

Tag gallery is meant to produce a gallery of thumbnails, not for posting full-size images in a page or post. Regarding the options, ‘dl’, ‘dt’, ‘dd’ are the html tags surrounding the various parts of each thumbnail.

You can change the thumbnail height and width but again, I don’t think tag gallery is the plugin that suites your needs.

    Good luck!
    Johnny

Thanks for the heads up. The issue has been fixed in the upcoming version of tag gallery. Thanks!
