In reply to: [SEO Ultimate] [Plugin: SEO Ultimate] Meta Description EditorMeta Description Editor’s “Default Formats” tab currently only supports the {excerpt} and {excerpt::autogen} variables for posts/pages and the {description} variable for categories/tags/terms. Hopefully we’ll get additional variables supported in the future.

In reply to: [SEO Ultimate] [Plugin: SEO Ultimate] Search Engine Listing & SchemaGoogle has an article on this that will hopefully be of help: Rich snippets not appearing?
The Meta Keywords box is located under the “Miscellaneous” tab of the “SEO Settings” box. If you can’t find it, make sure the Meta Keywords Editor module is enabled in the Module Manager.

In reply to: [SEO Ultimate] [Plugin: SEO Ultimate] Syntax error ver. 7.5.7It sounds like there was a plugin installation failure and the author-links.php file was not downloaded correctly. Try going to Settings > SEO Ultimate > Reinstall and reinstalling the plugin.

In reply to: [SEO Ultimate] [Plugin: SEO Ultimate] Conflict with 'Add Link to Facebook'Marcel: Would there still be side effects even if Open Graph data was being outputted by another plugin, such as SEO Ultimate? Is there something unique to the OGP data outputted by Add Link to Facebook?

In reply to: [SEO Ultimate] [Plugin: SEO Ultimate] Conflict with 'Add Link to Facebook'SEO Ultimate doesn’t have any way to disable its og:url tag. If the Add Link to Facebook plugin doesn’t either, then I’d say the easiest solution would be to look for another Facebook plugin that doesn’t output Open Graph data, or that at least lets you turn off its Open Graph output.

In reply to: [SEO Ultimate] [Plugin: SEO Ultimate] Open Graph Questions1. Correct.
2. Yes. SEO Ultimate will use the post/page title as the default Open Graph title.
3. The defaults should be fine for 99% of sites. Open Graph Type is a way of telling Facebook and other sites what category a particular webpage falls into. Since most blog posts are articles, then “article” will work for almost all blogs. But, for example, if you’re using WordPress as an e-commerce site and your post is actually a product page for a book, then you could pick “Book” from the Open Graph Type dropdown.
Sorry about the lack of info. I just haven’t had time to write some good documentation for the module.

In reply to: [SEO Ultimate] [Plugin: SEO Ultimate] KeyWordsIf you’re referring to meta keywords, you can enable the Meta Keywords Editor under SEO > Modules. Then you can go to SEO > Meta Keywords and set default values (autogenerated keywords), sitewide keywords, and keywords for each post/page/etc.
Describing how to get the best results out of this plugin would fill up a small book, but I will let you know that a new tutorial video is in the works for sometime this year. Also, you can click the Help tabs on various modules’ admin pages and read the documentation.

In reply to: [SEO Ultimate] [Plugin: SEO Ultimate] Search Result TypeYes, Google may choose to display your page differently. See Google’s page on review snippets for an example.
Version 7.5.7 removes integration with the WordPress.com mShots service, so if there’s no Open Graph image specified, then Facebook should show the thumbnail chooser like before.
Oh I see, you mean the archive page for the custom post type itself, not a particular post with that type. Unfortunately SEO Ultimate does not support rewriting the title tag for the archive pages of custom post types. Perhaps Title Tag Rewriter will be upgraded to support this in the future. Sorry for any inconvenience.

In reply to: [SEO Ultimate] [Plugin: SEO Ultimate] Latest UpdateThanks for the input, Scotty101.
I’m guessing that the Suffusion theme has some code that is interfering with the SEO Settings box. Based on the screenshot that Roger (bacchusandbeery) sent me, it looks like there’s a Suffusion CSS rule that is “floating” the SEO Settings box so that it can’t push down what’s below it, and so the SEO Settings box becomes obscured. If this is the case, then obviously, the Suffusion CSS code would not be deliberately targeting SEO Ultimate in particular. I’ve never used Suffusion, so I’m just speculating here, but probably what’s happening is that perhaps SEO Ultimate and Suffusion both use the same JQuery code to generate a tab control; Suffusion’s CSS code is meant to affect the layout of Suffusion’s tab control, but because their code is not written properly, it’s affecting all tab controls on the post editor screen, including SEO Ultimate’s. Again, I’m just making a guess as to the particulars of the problem.
If it is indeed the case that Suffusion is causing the problem, as it would seem, then unfortunately, since there’s nothing I can do to change Suffusion’s code, you’ll have to try contacting Suffusion support about the problem. Please do feel free to pass along my educated guess about the cause of the problem to Suffusion support.

In reply to: [SEO Ultimate] [Plugin: SEO Ultimate] Meta description errorSEO Ultimate supports meta descriptions for posts/pages/attachments/custom post types/categories/tags/custom taxonomies/blog homepage, but not author archive pages at this time. That’s why it’s not outputting a meta description on your author archive page.

In reply to: [SEO Ultimate] [Plugin: SEO Ultimate] Search Result TypeIf you’re writing a review or writing a post about a place (such as a business), you can select “Review” or “Place” under the “Search Result Type” dropdown, and fill in the fields that appear with info about the review or place. Then SEO Ultimate will add code to your post that conveys that info to the search engines.
