In reply to: [Plugin: WordPress Tweaks] view_dashboard capabilityHi David,
You can add custom user capabilities (like view_dashboard) with the Role Manager plugin.

In reply to: [WP-PluginsUsed] Small Bug: linked authorsThis is often done when there’s more than one author to link to; the Sandbox theme is one example.
Running the author line through strip_tags() wouldn’t be a bad idea.

In reply to: Does anybody know the changes in 2.6@jabecker — I think you’re referring to a rendering problem under IE 7 (which caused the entire page to seem to disappear [ugh!]) that a reader just informed me about today; it’s fixed now.
Hi IBuildTraffic2,
Thanks for your comment. I think your classification of “sneaky, slimy, and scummy” is unfounded, for several reasons:
First of all, the link is easily disabled by following the instructions in the readme. Please check the documentation before posting a complaint, not after.
You are not obligated to keep the link of course, but I would certainly appreciate it since I put a lot of time into this plugin and offer it at no charge.
Second, the practice of adding links is common among other popular plugins like Spam Karma 2, Popularity Contest, etc. Spam Karma 2 adds a small banner similar to that of WordPress Tweaks, and Popularity Contest goes further by adding a link to every single blog post.
Third, WordPress itself even does this by adding a lot of default links to the blogroll (and a link in the footer of the default theme) — all pointed at various places on www.remarpro.com.
If you are that offended by removable attribution links, then why are you using WordPress itself in the first place?
Some people would enjoy showing off that their blog has been fine-tuned. But if you think the tweaks counter is sneaky, slimy, and scummy, then seriously, just disable it!

In reply to: Does anybody know the changes in 2.6LOL, the French site actually stole the features list from a blog post of mine. You can find the original post here:
Since then my post has also been updated with info on Identicons and Google Gears support.

In reply to: [Plugin: WordPress Tweaks] Comments menu disappears in WordPress 2.5This issue has been fixed in version 1.0. For version 0.1.x, just disable the “Rename ‘Blogroll’ admin menu item to ‘Links'” tweak, as mentioned above.
Thanks texaun.

In reply to: WordPress expert – Database tuningHi SouthBeach030,
Here are some ideas:
- Optimize your WordPress tables (a post from my WordPress Expert blog).
- Read the WordPress Optimization Codex article.
- As a last resort, you could also try reformatting WordPress.
Also, this speed-test tool might be of help.
