In reply to: Rss Feed Not UpdatingI’ve received a reply from Bloglines that they are acknowledging errors … but no explanation. And this does not explain similar failures to post on Yahoo and Google. However, I can demonstrate that the problem is not coming from WordPress and it is not related to using or not using permalinks.

In reply to: Rss Feed Not UpdatingJust checked again, on a different PC, and Bloblines still has the last posting on THIS blog at yours beginning “Click my name …”
Here’s an interesting exchange:
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Rss Feed Not UpdatingI’m using Bloglines, Yahoo and Google — and the update are not showing on any of them. It DOES seem to be a problem with the aggregators and not with WP. They ALL apparently stick with the first XML they get and not go after a new one(?)
I found that I can foce these aggregators to go get a new XML by changing the format on the blog for Permalinks (changed it from Date and Name to Default). Bingo, with the new URI for the feed, the aggregator goes out and gets it right. At first I though it must work better with “Default” (cat=4) style, but NO. ONce the aggrergator has fetched that feed once, It seems to retire. I can find no way to force it to update — browser cache cleared, nada.
So now I’m back to the prettier permalinks, and i get this discrepancy — using the category Jazbox feed as my example:
The URI is https://mediaspanusers.org/wp/category/Jazbox/feed/
In Bloglines, when I use the URI I get an ancient result — one of the two posts hasn’t existed four five hours!
But in my browser if I type that same URI I get, of coure, the raw XML, AND IT IS CORRECT — has the two correct posts, and not the ancient one that Bloglines insists on still displaying.
S I’m sure that WP is outputting it correctly, and that ALL THREE of the aggregators I’ve tried all cache and do not update for hours/days/months?
I’ve testeed this teory on THIS BLOG (WP SUPPORT) and it is just as bad here! my earlier ABCD response to you, your response to me are both missing from the feed on all three aggregators. EVEN WHEN I switch browsers from Firefox to IE (ergo no browser cache; and cookies in a different location)!!
Go figure!

In reply to: Comments RSS feed not updatingMore info: Using BLoglines as my aggregator (this also goes for Google, Yahoo): I find that changing the PERMALINKS format from Date & Name to any other forces the aggregators to get it right — that is, this makes an update work. But it isn’t the fix — not even close! Once you have snagged the new material, further changes are not updated … UNTIL you go an change the Permalinks settings again. Then it works … ONCE. In other words, changing has an effect but the problem is exactly the same whetehr you are using the Default, Numeric or Date & Name.
I’m think the problem must be with the aggregator, not WordPress(???) but why would they ALL mess up in the same way? Also, this doe not correct after so many hours.
Perhaps WP only generates the feed XML once — when you change the permalink setting?

In reply to: Comments RSS feed not updatingI am seeing the same thing — comments feed not updating. Driving me nuts! the basic https://mediaspanusers.org/wp/feed/ updates properly, but the https://mediaspanusers.org/wp/comments/feed/ does not …
I tried changing from polite names back to ugly (cat=4 instead of category/something) and that worked for the universal feeds (all posts and all comments) but I cannot see how to have category feeds with that naming convention.

In reply to: Rss Feed Not UpdatingThis solution sucks! Anyone know of progress to have best of both? polite URIs and RSS that works?

In reply to: RSS not updatingI’m having the same or similar problem. When I start a feed on Bloglines, Yahoo, Google, etc. on COmments, I get the SAME THREE comments, all of which have been deleted from the site; and new comments are NOT showing up in the feed.
Also am seeing about 15 postings on this support forum all about RSS feeds not updating. And yet NOTHING that helps in the WordPress codex or anywhere else on this sites.
(This makes two of us being driven nuts :-))

In reply to: How to import users from a CSV fileHaving this capability would be most welcome!! I have a user group for 1,100-plus already in .CSV … would be a simple matter to rearrange the fields for import into WP using each user’s e-mail address as their login, and simply ship them their initial password. HOWEVER, the need to also set their user level high enough for them to administer their account is the bugaboo. That information is in the meta table. Any thoughts on how to make a second import into that table with the correct user-level (we intend to start them out as contributers, since we already know them).
