  • I have a user reporting the image edit functionality in the post edit in visual mode no longer allows the user to delete an image or open the image editor;
    I have confirmed this loss of functionality;
    the site recently updated automatically to 3.9
    if this is a new feature to force my non-HTML users to use text mode, this is going to be a real problem;
    it looks like I need to shut off automatic updates as well.

    I can confirm that this resolves this issue with 1and1.com hostees; it will also fix a couple other anomalies such as failure to get wordpress information downloads to your dashboard-admin page. These issues have occurred since the 2.8.4 upgrade.

    I am not exactly sure what this code does but I have found 1and1.com to have a couple operational glitches as it attempts to support wordpress activities. For ex., I no longer use the flash uploader for images and use only the browser uploader option because I suspect 1and1’s vanilla operational structure is incompatible (images do upload but the image management screen fails to appear so one has to go to media menu and insert it manually from there). I am sure there is code to fix this but I am also trying not to be a computer science major in my later life.

    More info on issue: I believe image file size is at least part of the issue (and/or local file size max settings):
    I discovered:
    all images are uploading to gallery directory, no matter the size;
    the thumbnail creation has hung for images w/ file size>400kb;
    loading one 75kb image works as expected;
    I have not investigated multiple file uploads with smaller file sizes

    Ditto: <<simonsopinion>>
    <<It freezes on ‘Create new thumbnails’
    It says 0% and stays there forever: Running…Please wait.
    I don’t have any javascript errors. >>

    Im on wp 2.5.1 using Firefox. Installed NexGen today: I managed to upload one image successfully; now it does the 0% for one or more file uploads

    I was getting image upload “Crunching” response upon attempting uploading from computer, followed by error message: upload failure: try again (or something close to that); this is recently upgraded WP 2.5 on Firefox; the images, however, were getting into the gallery but they didn’t import into the post correctly (but they did import)

    based on applying #6443 – #7573 proposed solutions (delete extra commas at lines 99 and 817, respectively), my upload works cleanly and Gallery seems to function normally. I have not verified if images get inserted into posts as specified in the dialog, however.

    Deleting the commas may not fix everything but you will have to and you can then focus on the remaining issues.
