In reply to: [ClassDex] Class RegistrationFrom the frontend, a student can make a payment for a class. However, to complete the registration, the administrator must enter the information into ClassDex to properly identify the correct corresponding student.

In reply to: [ClassDex] Questions about ClassDex's capabilities1. Payment can be taken by any means — in person or online — however you always need to enter this information manually into ClassDex. ClassDex is the place to track the payments, but it does not handle any of the actual transactions.
2. Yes, registration for multiple students at one time is an option for customers.
3. Unfortunately, ClassDex was not built for multi-location businesses and does not handle that situation very well. If each location has its own website, then each could have its own version of ClassDex running.
4. Waitlists are currently not apart of ClassDex.

In reply to: [ClassDex] Days in classes.ClassDex was built originally for a yoga studio that held classes once a week — so there is no way to change this in the admin section of ClassDex for things like the class list print out. However, you can modify the way that the class is displayed to users by editing the “Custom HTML” section of the class. This option gives you complete control over how the class is displayed.

In reply to: [ClassDex] Getting Registrations back into ClassDexGood morning, I’m glad that ClassDex is working for you and your client!
Unfortunately, at this time, I have no immediate plans to implement this part of the integration with Cart66. The business that I originally built ClassDex for has mostly repeat customers, so it was important to them to accurately track customer history and to avoid duplicate customers. With an automated system it would be very difficult to avoid duplicates, which is why I left this out of ClassDex.
This is probably the most requested feature, so I’ll look into it more for the future — but this would be a ways off.
Thanks,

In reply to: [ClassDex] How to start using Classdex for my websiteHi Sarah,
The link the I gave you is a link to instructions for how to set up your website. I spent a good amount of time to create this documentation. It goes through all of the important steps for setting up ClassDex on your site. ClassDex is not a simple program, so it will take some time to learn how to use it properly. Please take some time to read through all of this documentation: https://howtononprofit.wordpress.com/classdex/
If you still have questions after reading the documentation, I’ll be happy to help.
Thanks,

In reply to: [ClassDex] Not acting as expectedHey Joan,
That’s right. Once you receive payment from Paypal, you need to go into the ClassDex backend and process that student’s registration and payment. There is not an automatic integration that sends this information — it must be done manually.

In reply to: [ClassDex] How to start using Classdex for my websiteHi Sarah,
To display the registration form on your website, use one of the ClassDex shortcodes described here: https://howtononprofit.wordpress.com/classdex/shortcodes-display-classes-on-your-site/
Users click “Add to Cart” to register for a class — this part of the process is handled by Cart66. The payment method is set up through Cart66, but Paypal Standard Web Payments is a simple integration option. Once payment is made through Paypal (or whatever payment method you choose), you will receive a receipt from paypal letting you know the customer’s name, address, phone, the classes that they registered for, and the total payment made. All of this information needs to be manually entered in the ClassDex backend. For detailed description of the process please read the documentation: https://howtononprofit.wordpress.com/classdex/
As far as database integration goes, I’m really not sure what you are attempting to do with that database, so it’s difficult for me to answer your question. ClassDex uses the same MySQL database that WordPress uses. If you want it to integration with a separate database (something other than the database that WordPress runs on), then you would need to create that integration yourself. There are no built-in options for addition database integration.

In reply to: [ClassDex] How to start using Classdex for my websiteHey Sarah,
There’s a little of both:
Students can register on your website and pay for their classes. However, the tracking of this needs to be manually done — once the student’s information is entered for the first time, this is actually a very quick process.

In reply to: [ClassDex] How to start using Classdex for my websiteHi Sarah,
ClassDex shares the same database that WordPress uses, so if wordpress is working, then ClassDex will be fine.
ClassDex has an administrative interface that is accessed from the WordPress Dashboard, where you can create classes, add customers, edit settings, etc. The part of ClassDex that users see is added to pages with shortcodes (https://howtononprofit.wordpress.com/classdex/shortcodes-display-classes-on-your-site/).
Full documentation can be found here: https://howtononprofit.wordpress.com/classdex/
Hope that helps!

In reply to: [ClassDex] "Full" = no more roomHey Joan,
I’m marking this as resolved. If the issue keeps coming up, let me know!

In reply to: [ClassDex] "Full" = no more roomHey Joan,
As long as the classes are created in ClassDex, they should be marked as “FULL” and unavailable for adding to the cart on the user page that is generated by the ClassDex shortcodes. If you added some classes directly to Cart66, that would create a situation where ClassDex would not be in control of their availability. If it says that the class is FULL on the ClassDex backend, then it will be full for the user. You can set the max number of students on the class edit page.
Maybe you could send me some screenshots of what is going on?
One other thought: if your site is utilizing page caching, you might want to turn that off for the pages where ClassDex shortcodes are embedded. The cache may be showing an old version of the page where the class is still available.
Hope that helps!

In reply to: [ClassDex] Does this support multi-location?Hi Leslie,
If each of your schools has its own website and is responsible for its own class registration, then each school could have its own installation of ClassDex which would run independent from the other schools. That would work well.
If you have one centralized website that you want to take registration for all of the schools, at this time ClassDex would not be very well suited to that job. However, I think ClassDex could be modified to do that well. I’d just need some more details about your setup.
Right now, ClassDex is not set up to handle attendance tracking. Let me know more specifically what you’re trying to accomplish and I’ll add your ideas to my feature request list.
Thanks,

In reply to: [ClassDex] Class Dex & Cart66 not playing together nicelyHey Joan,
An update of ClassDex is now available which repairs the integration with Cart66 for the most recent version. I also added “Unpaid” and “Partial” payment status messages as discussed.
However, if everything is working well with the previous version of Cart66 and the previous version of ClassDex, then I’d recommend that you wait on any updates until the next versions of both Cart66 and ClassDex are available. Cart66 was having some security issues, so they implemented a short-term fix. This will be changed to a long-term solution in their next update, which will mean that ClassDex will also have to be updated again. Not sure when they plan to release that update, but when they do, it’ll take me a few days to make the new integration work.
Good luck with your new classes!
John
