No, I didn’t try the patches you mention. I followed the link but I simply can’t understand what is going on there.
Thanks for answering, but after spending literally hours on this, I think it would be more productive for me to explore ways of going back to an earlier version of the program.

I’m using a windows machine and all previous versions of the wp dashboard have loaded quickly for me. But since upgrading to 2.7 it has slowed down considerably. It can take up to 60 seconds to reload the dashboard. More often it is 40 or sometimes 20 seconds. But it never gets faster than that.
I’ve tried deactivating all the plugins and engaging gears. But neither of these processes has any effect.
The public part of the blog is OK.
If anyone has managed to sort this problem I’d be very grateful.

Similar problem. My daily hits count dropped overnight from around 500 to a single 3.
So I suppose it’s still working, but the figures are ludicrous.

Thanks Otto42. That certainly works for the Ad Rotator plugin. I did what you suggest and the problem went away.
However, the second problem, relating to wp-cron-mail, remains. Under the plugin on the plugins page I’m told that there is an upgrade to 1.3. But when I download and upload to the server, nothing changes. It still wants me to upgrade.

I’ll wait for 2.5.1. But it’s good to know it’s coming.

No replies. Has no one an idea about this? The problem remains as stated.

This morning my widgets.php screen is blank, showing no widgets available and no widgets current.
Also my dashboard is showing no widgets whatsoever.
I’m beginning to lose faith in 2.5.

I have the same problem as the first poster on this thread.
Coincidentally, like Quinze, I am also running the Get Recent Comments plugin.
Reading through the many threads on 2.5’s widgets section, it seems like an urgent fix is needed for these problems.

    Thanks Gangleri
I’ve read further in the forums and there seems to be a real problem which we might have to wait to be fixed.
I’ve given names to the text widgets. Hope that helps. I’ve also avoided putting one text widget next to another.
I’ll continue to look for the thread you couldn’t find.
    I don’t have a cache plugin.

Thanks for replying, Gangleri, but can you say some more? I get exactly the same view of the Design/Widgets screen in IE as I do in Firefox.
I have no problem adding a widget. If I click ‘Add’ the widget moves over to the right.
My problem is as described above in the first post on this page. Among the ‘text widgets’ and ‘rss widgets’ on the right, if I go to edit them (click on small ‘edit’ button on the right of each widget) they open and show the contents. At the bottom of the now opened widget, on the left-hand side, are two further buttons. ‘Change’ which simply closes the widget, and ‘Remove’, which removes the content of the widget.
Neither of these seem to help me.
So I edit the contents of the widget, remove or add characters and then save the changes.
When I look at my site after doing that, usually, but not always, the entire contents of the widget I have worked on have disappeared.
When I go back to Design/Widgets and reopen the widget in question, it is empty.

I don’t have a copy of IE. I only use Firefox (v. 2.0.0.13) and the problem remains.
    Perhaps it is intermittent?
It seems urgent to find a solution though.

Just to clear up the obvious question, my site’s theme is a hacked version of 281. And I see that scobb77’s theme is Floralicious designed by SiteInspiration.

I have exactly the same problem. Any pointers would be useful.

In reply to: Bizarre Akismet Problem

I just tried uploading the new version of Akismet (2.1.3) and I get the same refusal to recognise it. The previous version seems to be doing the job and won’t be moved.
    Strange, though . . .

Enabling ‘search tags’ seems to kill it, resulting after eight or nine minutes searching in the following error message:

WordPress database error: [Server shutdown in progress]
    SELECT DISTINCT SQL_CALC_FOUND_ROWS wp_posts.* FROM wp_posts , wp_terms AS ter, wp_term_relationships AS rel, wp_term_taxonomy AS tax WHERE 1=1 AND (((post_title LIKE ‘%bennett%’) OR (post_content LIKE ‘%bennett%’))) AND (post_status = ‘publish’ OR post_status = ‘private’) OR ( wp_posts.ID = rel.object_id AND rel.term_taxonomy_id = tax.term_taxonomy_id AND tax.term_id = ter.term_id AND tax.taxonomy = ‘post_tag’ AND ter.slug LIKE ‘%bennett%’) ORDER BY post_date DESC LIMIT 0, 8

WordPress database error: [Lost connection to MySQL server during query]
    SELECT FOUND_ROWS()
