In reply to: [XML Sitemap Generator for Google] Trying to Understand SitemapI’m using the new release 4.1.18. No 404 errors but, my sub-sitemaps are still empty if I click on the links.

If you think my settings are okay then I’m okay. My issues at the moment I don’t believe are being caused by the sitemap. The issues show up in Google Search Console. Here’s a link to a screenshot of Google Search Console/Pages to show you what I mean.
For a furniture upholsterer/amateur webmaster the search console results are a bit daunting to figure out how to resolve. Most, if any, don’t seem to be affecting search my results.
I don’t have any “no index” specific plugins. What I’m using is WordPress based BoldGrid as the website builder which comes with it’s own suite of plugins. The BoldGrid plugin “Easy SEO” has the option to index or noindex and all my pages and blog posts are set to Index.
Thank you for the reply. My apologies for the delay responding. Not sure if I got an email notification about a reply.
Also, exclusion doesn’t break your Sitemap or its Structure, just relevant links will be excluded from Sitemap.
What relevant links would be excluded from the sitemap.
I guess what I don’t understand about sitemaps is how to create a sitemap, with only relevant links, in which Google Search Console does not report issues with items like 404 pages and pages marked “noindex” tags. I’m trying to keep my sitemap as simple as possible as the website is pretty simple.
Would it be possible to have a look at my sitemap settings and recommend which settings I should use and or which I could safely exclude.
Any advice or help appreciated.

In reply to: [XML Sitemap Generator for Google] Trying to Understand SitemapEven though I have auto updates disabled for the plugin, I can’t seem to be able to roll back without the plugin being updated back to the latest version. Every time a backup occurs the plugin is back to the latest version.
Temporarily giving up and using the default WP sitemap and already getting messages from Google Search Console about pages with no index tags..
Been using XML Sitemaps almost from inception, but may have to switch unless I get it to work. Problem with switching to something new is there is not really anything to compare without added SEO. I already use an an SEO plugin which would conflict.
I don’t think it’s something on my end or with my web host because the WP default sitemap works as expected.

In reply to: [XML Sitemap Generator for Google] Trying to Understand SitemapIs it safe to assume when XML Sitemaps is installed, it automatically disables the WP default sitemap..

In reply to: [XML Sitemap Generator for Google] Trying to Understand SitemapThanks, but I don’t have any other sitemap plugins. I don’t use Yoast or All in One SEO or any other SEO plugin that includes a sitemap

In reply to: [XML Sitemap Generator for Google] Trying to Understand SitemapI installed 4.1.13, all the links were still empty. Also on the XML Sitemap settings page I was getting an a warning message: “The following plugins conflict with proper indexation of your website. Use the buttons below to disable the extra sitemaps”, but there were no buttons to use for disabling anything.
Unfortunately I forgot to disable auto updates and the plugin updated back to 4.1.16. I deleted it again and now I’m just going to live with the default WordPress XML Sitemap until I figure out what to do.

In reply to: [XML Sitemap Generator for Google] Trying to Understand SitemapThanks, What’s the best way to roll back. I don’t have a backup going back that far. Do I use a roll back plugin.
HI James,
My apologies for the delay. Somehow I didn’t see the notification for your reply. G4 is indeed available and I activated it.
The issue is however, I’m not sure if running the Cron Update was the fix or it was working all along. I’m somewhat sure before the cron update, I selected “edit” and the G4 option was not available, but I can’t say for sure because I was a bit confused between the “edit in analytics” and simply “edit”. I think I was expecting to see the option for G4 in Settings/Analytics/with a slider at the top where it says “Dashboard View”. Obviously now, I needed to Edit first.
Either way, all the G4 metrics in Dashboard are working and I appreciate your help.
Thanks for the help James. I installed the WP Control plugin, followed the instructions, and the option slider to enable G4 was not there. Your instructions were pretty straight forward so I’m sure I followed them correctly.
I filled out the Site Health Report via your link and submitted it.

In reply to: Best Theme for "Website" Look and Feelesmi, you were right. Data bases all set up and WordPress installed on my current host in a sub folder of my root domain. Data base was simple to do. Ready to get a new site going.
And premiumwp, took your advise and I going to start with colorway. Maybe I’ll upgrade to the premium colorway if I like it.

In reply to: Best Theme for "Website" Look and FeelI must say, one disappointment about Apple iWeb no longer being updated is the great support community over at Apple for iWeb. So this support forum will be a nice new place to hang out. Thanks for your help.
