My admin page looks different to yours (I would upload a screenshot but there isn’t an option in this reply box), and although there is an icon in the top left on mine, hovering over it does nothing.

I’ve also tried the second method described here: https://www.hostinger.co.uk/tutorials/how-to-check-which-version-of-wordpress-you-are-using#Three-Methods-to-Check-WordPress-Current-Version – the generator section in the source code just says ‘<meta name=”generator” content=”WordPress.com” />’, no mention of the version.

What on earth am I using!? Do you reckon this is just a way of forcing me to pay for some sort of plan before even allowing me to know what version my site is on?

@betydbr How do I find that out? A quick google tells me to scroll down to the bottom whilst on the Dashboard and look in the bottom right hand corner… but there’s nothing there?

So I don’t have an ‘Appearance’ tab on the Dashboard. To get to themes, I go from Dashboard -> Design -> Themes.

On the Themes page, it has a section of recommended themes, above which is an ‘install theme’ button which I can’t use because it tells me to upgrade to the business plan. Below the recommended themes section is a section titled ‘Advanced Themes’, which has a search bar (can select between All/Free/Premium) – it’s in this search bar that searching for Neve returns nothing.

I really hope I’m just being stupid and that I’m missing something obvious.

Right ok so Neve has been suspended and is pending approval.

You mention we’ll have to install plugins to get it working – at the minute I’m not allowed to install any plugins, it says I have to upgrade to the business plan (￡240/year!) to do so. Is it not possible to install plugins on the personal or premium payment plans?

I really like the Neve theme but I won’t be able to use it if it demands plugins for installation which therefore requires subscribing to the WP business plan.

Thanks for your response corrinarusso. To my horror I’ve discovered the site I’m updating is hosted on some sort of free plan, and therefore plugins aren’t allowed. It also means that the theme I’ve used on my local updated site cannot be used (or found) on the live version. I’m sure your links will be useful to somebody however!
