I’ve been looking at this thread because I’m trying to do the same thing!

I’ve created a child theme, and I’ve tried both methods suggested by Hannes Salen, and Backpackers Union, and it’s sorted the featured image problem, but now my website header image has disappeared! This happened when I tried both methods.

Can you suggest anything I could do to fix this?
