I have now stopped using backup plugins, because I have not found one that is reliable. Instead, I use FileZilla to download my entire site (i.e. root folder and all the folders beneath it) to a folder on my PC. This is very quick, can be done in the background, and has the advantage that you know exactly when it was done. The cloud backup plugins take some time to do the backup, and you are never quite certain when a given file was backed up.
Also, if you just want a single set of backup files, you can download to the same folder every time, and set FileZilla to overwrite the old versions of files with the new ones.
You can back up the SQL database using the facilities provided by your hosting company, and then FTP it down to your PC, again using FileZilla. Or, if you are using PHPMyAdmin, you can just use Export to save the database to your computer.
I recommend this method; it is simple and quick!

In reply to: [HTML5 jQuery Audio Player] Feature Request – Volume ControlPity. Tracks come up at full volume, and it’s a pain to have to turn it down via the PC general control. Even a “player settings” percentage specifier would be better than nothing. Just a thought.
Anyway, well done for supporting this excellent plugin so briskly!

In reply to: [HTML5 jQuery Audio Player] ogg converterGoldwave didn’t work for me – I got a divide-by-zero exception when converting an MP3 to OGG. So I used Audacity instead – no problem.
I have been through the setup process for this plugin carefully twice, following the procedure given by the author here and on his website. Unfortunately there is still no sign of any upload to my Google drive starting. A full backup zip file is created on my server at httpdocs/wp-content/backups, and that’s it. Selecting “One time backup” results in the message “Please wait..Process loading”, but that message remains on the screen indefinitely as far as I can tell, with no indication of progress. In “Manage Files” I can select “Move to Google Drive”, but I get the same message and again no progress. In “Backup Settings”, entering the “Backup Folder Name” as e.g. GDBACKUP results in the backup filename GDBACKUP_1350257827.zip, not a folder of that name. It isn’t clear what the “timestamp” is – number of seconds since 1960 perhaps?
The only way I can get the file to my Google drive is to download it and do it manually.
I have spent quite a bit of time on this, and in the end I am afraid I have given up and moved to WordPress Backup to Dropbox, which does work, and gives progress reports into the bargain.Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Audio] [Plugin: Audio] please include instructions!I echo peteratomic’s sentiment, except I have found out how to upload media files > 1MB – use a plugin called “Add From Server”. It ought to be possible to change the upload limit, but God knows how – there’s no WordPress setting I can find, and php.ini contains “upload_max_filesize = 128M”.
Anyway, I would like to see a simple example of how to insert an audio player into a page so that the viewer can play the MP3 but not download it, as on Amazon/iTunes etc. – please! I’m just a beginner/amateur at this game.
I’m getting frustrated with WordPress’s documentation generally – many of the posts requesting help are closed off prematurely with no conclusion. I reckon I’m fairly smart, but I’m having a real problem finding out how to do relatively simple things. When I find out, maybe I’ll write a document for dummies. Or maybe I’ll just move over to Serif WebPlus for dummies.
Sorry about the outburst,Scott, if it’s any consolation you’re not the only WordPress person in line for it!
