I ran into this problem when using the standalone version of sIFR and got around it by using the offset option.
In wp-sifr under the advanced settings I added it so that my advanced settings reads:
wmode: ‘transparent’,
offsetLeft: ‘4’
That fixed it for me. You might have to play with the setting depending on what font you’re using.
