Yeah, it worked! I think I know what made it work:

Settings > Reading > For each article in a feed show: Full text

Then, place an image above the More tag.

It would be cool if future versions would also show the Featured Image as well.

I have tried that previously, eliminating the featured image, and instead using a regular image.

It did not work for me either.

Maybe WordPress will adjust the font size in a future update of TwentyFifteen? If I go to hard font sizes, will that work for all devices?

Through a more thorough internet search I found a solution.

Within Yoast’s SEO plugin you go to:

Titles & Metas > Home > Meta description template

Insert your Meta Description there.
