stvwlf’s advice has helped me regarding subdomain’s and 1and1. This solved problems of the wp dashboard not receiving feeds within the dashboard such as the “plugins” and “Development Blog” and “Other WordPress News” widgets.

For the plugin browser, what did you list as the “script filenames and locations”?

…and is it port 80?

I just installed WP on a site that’s hosted on aplus.net. And I’m having the plugins API issue and the dashboard rss feeds errors you’ve listed above.

What exactly did you ask/have your webserver do to resolve?
