    I realise that the parent theme is still there although lacking many of the customisations to appearance etc. For example my lastest draft blog item is viewable when I activated the parent theme.

    I was surprised at how different the appearance is between my child theme and the parent theme – hence I mistook the difference for a problem but it is shown as the latest v 2.09 verson of the sydney theme.

    I guess that all is well behind the scenes although if I had to use the parent theme to recover my website there would be a lot of customisation to repeat.

    Thanks I tried that but became more confused when main theme did not seem to be listed but it must surely as the website appears ok when searching using the url. I wonder whether the issue is more to do with the update to the TIDIO plug in or the fact that I am using a multisite wp install for my websites

    https://hr-management-dimensions.co.uk/HRMDmn – the main site
    https://hr-management-dimensions.co.uk/HRMDmn/blog/
    https://hr-management-dimensions.co.uk/HRMDmn/key-hr-facts/

    the last site is on a different theme myknowledgebase by Guido.

    The appearance and functionality of TIDIO appears to have been updated so I wonder whether it may be easier to uninstall and reload the plug in key hr facts as a separate install rather than a multi access to the same plug in on the sydney theme? Any pros and cons on that idea or better suggestions?

    Apologies, I found the answer in support questions – had forgotten it was via creating a page rather than a post

    Afterthought to first query – other test pages produced but i am not sure how those become incorporated into an overall ToC as it does not seem to pick up the other page titles

    I believe I have found The answer to my own query – Text can be added besides the image by going to:
    customisation in the theme;
    selecting HomePage side bar;
    Select widget in my case I uses artibrary text.

    What fooled me is that there is a delay before the text box appears so at first I though it was not the right method but trying a second time and being more patient the text box on the widget appears for text to be entered.

    It worked so I will mark the query as resolved but hope this helps other new users.

    Guido thank you for replying. Please do not worry about replying immediately as I think we all need a rest day. I found the template page in preferences in the block editor and have started to experiment on page layout and ensuring that readers can get to the facts quickly via the links. I am not an expert at wordpress or website but am learning gradually how to make a theme work in an effective way,

    I am still puzzled how to move the knowledge base forward as I shall have 6-8 main categories and then many sub-topics under each so that users can find the information appropriate to their needs. To experiment I have created a category as I guess the knowledge base works on a hierarchy of categories.

    Presumably those can be linked to either pages or posts. Is there a reason why posts rather than pages, seem to be the preferred means of displaying information in myknowledgebase under categories etc?

    Joy thanks again. It does appear that something has changed in the way draft posts will be saved or not. Having read your note earlier, I accepted that my post had most likely not been saved due to the ‘leave page’ issue. So I tried an experiment by drafting a few key points from the article I thought I had saved as a reminder but this time saved it as private view – as I remembered reading a comment about that method. The private link appeared in the menu along with all and published posts. The private post was visible.

    I also recalled seeing the quick draft box on the desktop so I tried that and interestinlgy that has a link ‘Save draft’ which I clicked and that worked fine Draft also appeared in the menu line along All Published Draft and Private. So there is a work around. I will consider raising the issue and potential alternative solutoins as you suggest but thank you again for helping me to see the way ahead

    Joy thank you for your reply but there is no such menu line at the top of all posts list all that appears is All, Published but no other choices

    Want a Technical challenge? The last update above may be unusual and perhaps requires an innovative solution such as a way to simply copy one php table prefeix wp tpe to another ending prefixed wp within the same database so that the posts will display on the blog. You can read more in the notes above.

    Would appreciate a solution as blogs are down until I fix this issue

    Unable to import blog posts from old database to new one. Created xml file from myphp admin wp posts row and used this to import into new wp installation but message received “does not appear to be a WXR file, missing/invalid WXR version number” Looked this up on internet and found suggested solutions of changing code line version number to 1.1 that is <wp:wxr_version>1.1</wp:wxr_version>.
    However, I can not find the above code in the xml file despite searching for various words, phrases and even “channel” to see if it is found so am not sure whether I am going about this in the right way –
    1 Should I export the wp_post file from php myadmin old database in xml format (that is what I have done) or from a different source?
    2 If so why does the above code not appear when the file is extracted to notepad++?
    3 Use the import tool in new wordpress installation to import it (tool is already active).
    4 Presumably when I do find the above code it should be changed as shown above i.e. to version 1.1 as follows <wp:wxr_version>1.1</wp:wxr_version>?

    Help appreciated but please bear in mind that I am not technically adept despite ‘knowledge’ above.

    I have now tried several times to export and import via wordpress and also via exporting php database sql format and then inporting that.

    When I use the wordpress importer to import XML file this does work and message is “his does not appear to be a WXR file, missing/invalid WXR version number” Any ideas or help to overcome this as I am trying to recover my posts and place them into a new installation of wordpress blog site.

    thanks in anticipation

    Amendment to first message
    curently if the main domain name is type in or searched for an old web site under my host will appear – the files for that website have been deleted deliberately.
