Temporarily, I can bypass this by deactivating the “All in One SEO Pack”

I am using wordpress 2.8 and I have come across a lot of errors. Right now …

    1) When I click on the “XML Sitemap” link, I get a 500 Internal Server Error.

    FIX:
My “All in One SEO Pack” plug-in was causing this error, so I deactivated it. For now, I am deactivating it and reactivating it. A pain in the ass, but for now it will do.

    2) When I click on the “rebuild the sitemap” link, I get a 500 Internal Server Error.

    FIX:
What I did is unchecked the “Write a gzipped file (your filename + .gz)” checkbox and saved the settings.

Then, clicking on the “rebuild the sitemap” worked.

Good luck. I hope to find a real fix on the internet.

Same here. I am using wordpress 2.8. Here is what I get:

Error 500 – Internal server error

An internal server error has occured!
    Please try again later.

Yup, after going through thorough research and proposed fixes, not to mention that one plug-in that promises the http fix, I finally did what others recommended here. I deactivated all of my plug-ins and that did the trick. The plug-in which caused me the headache was (drum roll) “NextGEN Gallery.” I hope this helps others.

okay, i figured out my problem. There was a plugin that was messing it up. It is the “Google Analyticator” plugin. If you deactivate it, the rest of the widget page loads and functions correctly.

For now, I am deleting this plug-in. I hope this solves some people’s problems.

    I am having simliar problems.

    1. The widget page does not display the sidebars
    2. The footer of the widget page is not displayed (i am assuming the entire page did not load.
    3. I cannot move or drag any of the widgets available
    4. I think i am missing some widgets (i.e. the tags)
    5. “Screen Option” or “Help” does not do anything when it is clicked
    6. None of the Javascript effects work (the sliding of the menus on the left

I have tried switching to the default template, clearing my cache and cookies, and even taken a shower. Still, i get the same problem.

Here is a screen shot of my widget page.
