it’s been fine ever since

i’m more convinced that it had to do with the WordPress media upload issue – and not your plugin

i’ll post further developments here – if any

did i have the ‘resolved’ flag turned on – i’ll do that this time

fyi – i’ve gotten the crunching freeze when uploading pics less than 1 megapixel – pics i had been able to upload before – but it’s worth trying the method above in case that’s the cause of your frozen crunch

it spontaneously repaired itself again – and the media upload issue also resolved – which suggests they are related

but it’s a worrisome thing – not knowing the cause means not not knowing when it will return

i tried the “default-to-GD” plugin – but it didn’t work for me

well – it used to be fixed – now i broke it again

while uploading a picture – i’m getting the error message – ‘An error occurred in the upload. Please try again later.’

this time = i had deleted a bunch of images which weren’t being used anywhere in the website – including Meteor Slides

as a reminder – last time – i had this problem after deleting a bunch of plugins

i also noticed when using Media Library to upload an image – i get stuck in the “crunching” error – so i’m becoming suspicious – it may be an issue with WordPress ver 3.8.1 – there are many threads regarding that issue

i’m sure it’s not the location of the user – i’m using a local server – and i get the same error – i’m uainf ver 3.8.1 as well

i googled “css fix footers” and came up with a various number of ways to do that

using “inspect element” – i see that the menu element is a UL with id=”menu-navigation” class=”menu” – you might try reducing the Line-Height of that ID

i tried this in Inspect Element –

div.menu ul {
line-height: 5px;
}

no adrian – that wasn’t it – but thanks anyway – the home page option as you described isn’t in my theme

but i did manage to get things working – i created a new page called “test” – when i saw that it was working properly – i copied the contents of “reviews” into it – and renamed “test” to “reviews” – and deleted the old “reviews” page – now it’s working

i don’t know what caused the problem in the first place – i don’t know why doing it the way i did made the difference – but i’m not getting a duplicate page anymore

nevermind – it fixed itself – or rather – maybe the problem was caused when i deleted some excess plugins – and was fixed when i installed another one (advanced custom fields) – who knows

gotta buy you a cup of coffee for this jewel of a plugin

thanks – the video pointed to one of the problems – the plugin folder had a number at the end of the name – correcting that got rid of most of the formatting errors – except the bullets

using inspect element – i discovered they are created by the Restaurateur theme i’m using – for a quick fix – i edited out the CSS code

so – the menus are looking good once again

i’m particularly happy the menus – categories – and food items are in separate easy to figure out database tables – it made it easy to use sql to enter the tremendous number of food items this restaurant has
