In reply to: Unable to Update Post + weird workaround to actually publish postnamecheap is where it’s hosted. it was working this morning and then it wasn’t. I could pinpoint it to sometime between 7:45 and 8:05. I didn’t receive any notification that changes were being made to the server.
I didn’t do any updates on my site… no plug in updates or theme updates…
I’ll check to see if they made some change to mod_security

In reply to: [Quiz Tool Lite] Purge Participant DataI thought that might sound confusing as soon as I posted it…
OK… so I’ll just go with my train of thought and maybe that will explain it.
I teach a 4-5 physics classes per year. I’ve been using your plugin this semester and it is superb.
But there’s one thing I’d really really like to see.
Let’s say I make a quiz that is set to show 10 questions. I generally have been making 3 different pots of questions (difficulty level (easy, medium, and hard)). I then can set my Conceptual Physics kids up with a quiz that has 7 easy and 3 medium difficulty questions. My AP kids can have a quiz that has 2 easy, 5 medium, and 3 hard.
In those pots I’ve been putting twice as many questions as could possibly come up on any one quiz. So 14 easy questions (because the conceptual kids will see 7 of them), 10 medium questions (because the AP kids will see 10 of them), and 6 hard questions (because the AP kids will see 3 of them.)
This guarantees no student receives the same question set but does receive a relatively similar level of difficulty as their peers.
This all works as it should and works really well. However, I’d love to be able to have the ability to follow Question A up with another specific question (and have it graded) but have that secondary question only show up if Question A is presented.
From my end I see it working something like this (and using my pot examples from earlier):
Current setup:
Hard Pot: 3 of the following are pulled
Question #1
Question #2
Question #3
Question #4
Question #5
Question #6
What I’d like:
Hard Pot: Pull either #1 or #2
Question #1a
Sub question #1b
Sub question #1c
Question #2a
Sub question #2b
Sub question #2cI could probably do something close to this using the current setup, but it would take exponentially more pots

In reply to: Suffusion – Sayontan need your helpmy understanding is that if you are commenting as the admin you will not receive an email.
I have no idea what that means.
I’m a newbie and I just registered and joined / signed in without any problems. Have u registered and got the activation link?
Awesome. I just tried from home and registering on aquoid worked. I’m wondering if our district filters at work trashed the confirmation email as spam.
I’ll ask this question there. Admin’s feel free to close this thread

In reply to: [Suffusion] [Theme: Suffusion] YOUR THEME ROCKS!Instead of starting a new thread, thought I’d just revive this one. I’ve literately installed and played with hundreds of WP themes over the last 7 years (I guess it technically hasn’t been 7 years since themes weren’t a part of the package until later). I’ve even hacked together a couple of my own.
Without a doubt this is by far the best theme I have ever used. I was a little leery of it out of the box, but after playing with it the last week I am in a state of amazement.
It does everything. Every theme related issue I’ve ever had has been addressed with Suffusion. It’s so freaking customizable. It doesn’t break. It displays everything correctly regardless of which browser I use. It allows you to display the content the way you want the content to be displayed. It allows you not to display content you don’t want to display.
I will be using this theme for a long long time.
Excellent work.

In reply to: How to ensure one post always stays above others?Holy Cow! This isn’t the WordPress community I remember.
Used to be someone could ask a question and get an answer.
Now evidently if you don’t ask the right question you get lambasted.
Who cares if the question hsd been asked before? The important thing is that it’s being asked.
If you think it’s a stupid question (some say there aren’t any… I think there are.) then DON’T RESPOND… It’s that simple.
If you are going to respond at least put something useful in your reply. It would take less time to post “Do a search for WP-Sticky” then any of the unhelpful responses that have been given to this point.
Seriously… Even if the question is one which has been asked numerous time before, even if the question is one which has been answered many times before REMEMBER that time stamps factor into relevancy in search results. When someone in the future does a search prior to asking the question there is a high liklihood that this result will be returned BEFORE any older ones. SO WOULDN’T IT BE GREAT IF THERE WAS SOME HELPFUL INFORMATION IN THE RESPONSES?
davestolte, nhann, and microjoes I apologize for the “help” you’ve been given to this point.
Do a search for “WP-Sticky” and you should find what you’re looking for.

In reply to: IMPORTANT: plugininstaller – severe bug fixed in 0.2.1my guess would be this…
https://henning.imaginemore.de/pluginstaller-021-important-bug-fix-release/64/I agree the OP could have been a little more clear.

In reply to: Company Branding & PackagingAre there instructions? Probably not…
Would it be hard to set up? Depends…
It could be as simple as modifying the default theme (adding in any other themes you want included), placing the plugins you want installed in the plugin directory, making any changes to the core files that you want made, and then zipping up the entire thing and distributing that.
On the users end they’d need to do the install and then activate the installed plugins…
Not sure if this is what you’re asking though.

In reply to: Tell me how WP is any less of a CMS than…otto and moshu, I agree with both of you.
Pick the tool which serves the purpose.
And I fully agree that WP doesn’t fit every need. However when WP transitioned from 1.2 to 1.5 I think it became much harder for someone to dismiss WP as simply a blogging application. And with the 2.x series I don’t see how Joomla can be considered a superior CMS. I’m not saying that it’s worse because it is a pretty slick little program, but for the majority of purposes I most certainly don’t think it’s better.
It’s the mindset that upsets me. WP is dismissed out of hand as being an incapable CMS. But there’s never justification for the dismissal from the other CMS envangelists. Just vague generalities.
I alluded to some of these in the thread, but I’ll add to it here. When I’m setting up a site:
If permissions are important = GeekLog
If Forums are important = phpBB or invision (paid)
If sales / commerce are key = ZenCart / Cubecart / osCommerce.
For most everything else = WPI’m not saying that the other CMS packages aren’t good, I pick WP as it’s the one I’m most comfortable with. All I’m looking for from them is specifics on WHY shouldn’t WP be considered? Which to this point they’re incapable of answering as eloquently as you have.

looking at the whois data for the site that the links are pointing to it looks like you’re dealing with something which might be able to be dealt with.

Aruba.it is an italian web host.
So the second thing I would suggest doing after contating your webhost is to contat aurba.it and tell them that they’ve got either a comprimised account or a spammer on one of their servers.
You’re also fairly lucky because the site in question has been up and running (on wp at least since July of 05) Normally these sorts of things are going to be pointing to MFA sites which pop in and out of existence all the time. So this looks like it’s a real person. I was able to catch the source to one of the pages before it loaded the redirect and it looks like whoever created the a r t e site is the same person who inserted the redirect…
(I’ve saved the page in question if you want a copy I’ll send it.)
